In 2018, he released "Friends", a collaboration with British singer Anne-Marie which peaked in the top 20 in the US. Months later, his second studio album, Joytime II, was released with singles "Tell Me" and "Check This Out". "Happier", a collaboration with British band Bastille, was released in August and became his highest-charting song on the Billboard Hot 100 at #2. In 2019, he earned $40 million, ranking second on the list of highest paid DJs compiled by Forbes. In 2020, he and American rapper Juice Wrld released "Come & Go", from the latter's posthumous album Legends Never Die; the song reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100, matching "Happier" as his highest-charting song. In 2021, his album Shockwave earned him a Grammy nomination.
Marshmello wears a custom helmet for public appearances. His identity was unknown, but was confirmed to be Chris Comstock in late 2017 by Forbes.
Marshmello's stage name, an alternative spelling of "marshmallow", and his marshmallow mascot head were both inspired by Canadian electro house music producer and DJ deadmau5, who also notably uses an alternate spelling for his stage name and performs wearing a "dead mouse" mascot head.
(2) Marshmello (Blackbird) is an alias of Marsha Smith (London, UK). She is DJ, radio host, music consultant, supervisor, mentor, networking and creative developer, also notable for vocals on tracks by The Funky Lowlives or Basement Jaxx.

You fell in love with the man I could be
You ain't fall in love with me
You fell in love with your vision of me
She said, "Boy, you ain't no good," yes, I know
Fuck I'm 'posed to do 'bout that? I'm on go
I been movin' state to state, I went pro (went pro)
I can ease your mind if you goin' through somethin'
That don't mean I can cure depression (can't cure a thing)
I'll free my night if you wanna do somethin' (do somethin')
But I'm takin' your direction
You ain't fall in love with me
You fell in love with the man I could be
You ain't fall in love with me
You fell in love with your vision of me
She said "Boy, who you been with?" I been low
She says she don't believe that shit, she think I'm gross
I can't even hug a bitch, she gon' know
Then fight me for the hell of it
I gotta dip, gotta go somewhere
Have I been wrong?
Have I been gone too long to know where I belong?
Whoa
You ain't fall in love with me
You fell in love with the man I could be
You ain't fall in love, no
You fell in love with your vision of me
In Marshmello's song "Fell In Love", the lyrics express the idea that the person the singer's love interest is in love with is not actually him, but rather the potential version of himself that he could be. The line "You ain't fall in love with me, you fell in love with the man I could be" suggests that the person he is currently is not enough for this woman, but she sees potential in him. He struggles with the pressure of meeting the expectations of her vision of him, as shown in the line "Have I been wrong? Have I been gone too long to know where I belong?" The lyrics also address the theme of self-improvement, with the singer acknowledging that he needs to better himself and become the person that his love interest sees him as in order to make the relationship work.
The second verse reveals the singer's past and his tendency to always be on the move, without stopping to face his problems. He expresses his willingness to support his love interest emotionally, but acknowledges that he is not a cure for her problems. He understands that he cannot solve everything for her, but is willing to listen and take her direction. The lyrics therefore showcase his dedication to her and his efforts to meet her expectations, while also recognizing his own limitations.
