Simplicius
Martigan Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Mouse tall wood'n houses
'n plastic lions & kangaroos
a stainy sky blue merry-go-round
the origin of my world

Two buckets fulls of sand
and one half full of rain
grass seems carpet sea and jungle
the birds' lyrics...the bees' humming
a distant monster barking

A headless and pale tlnsoldier
and his best friend ihe onearmed knight
came along with him when
called for supper
to conquer all hights
don't fear no fight

to conquer all nights
'till the end of the light

Hillitop high dreaming castles
and a princess of beauty & kind
a head full of dreams
and a sky full of stars
noone cares about the dawn

a flyinn' white horse rides along
butch ofpromises on its back
The red man will never ride a car
and a Yogi-(bear)
ever seeks for picnic baskets

A headless and pale tlnsoldier
and his best friend ihe onearmed knight
came along with him when
called for supper
to conquer all hights
don't fear no fight

to conquer all hights
'till the end of the light

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Martigan's song Simplicius speak of a child's imagination. The first stanza recounts the origin of the world as the child perceives it - a collection of wood and plastic toys, a blue merry-go-round under a "stainy sky." The second stanza is a portrayal of the child playing in the sand and among grass, imagining the songs of birds and the buzzing of bees, while a distant dog barks. The final stanza describes a princess in a castle, and a flying horse carrying promises. The images evoke a sense of innocent wonder, where even inanimate objects come to life and fantastical creatures exist without questioning.

The refrain of the song, "to conquer all heights, don't fear no fight, to conquer all nights 'till the end of the light," may symbolize the child's determination to conquer the world of imagination, to overcome any obstacle and battle any perceived threat, even in the dark of night. This speaks to the resilience and bravery that children can possess, despite the limitations of their physical world.

Ohrwurms so komplett verweigert habt. Bin mir absolut sicher: Mit Leichtigkeit hätte
