In 2012, Garritsen signed a professional contract with Spinnin' Records until terminating his contract in 2015 and cutting ties with his management, MusicalAllStars on August 25, 2015. In a subsequent lawsuit against the record company, Garritsen won back his rights to his songs released under the label between 2012 and 2015, winning his case in a 2017 court ruling. Earlier in 2016, Martijn created his label imprint 'STMPD RCRDS', which was a tribute to his father's role in the stamp business.
On July 26, 2016, Garritsen signed a 'worldwide' contract with Sony Music International. Explaining that, "their forward thinking approach to streaming and incredible roster of talented artists combined with their passion and understanding for my vision of the future of my music made this a no brainer."
Used To Love

Place that used to feel like us
Remembering the only thing that made me
Feel like I was worth the love
We used to hold hands, now I dance alone
We had Springsteen playing so loud
We danced in the dark 'til it felt like home
But you will never be left behind
Give me a moment, I need just a little more time
If I could, I would have made things right
But we can't go back to the way that we used to love
Never apart you're still running through my blood
But we can't go back to the way that we used to love
But we can't go back to the way that we used to love
We can't go back to the way that we used to
Be talking through the night, you laying by my side
You were always there to heal my scars
And into the dawn I do my best to try and find some sleep
But you still keep me up
We used to hold hands, now I dance alone
We had Springsteen playing so loud
We danced in the dark 'til it felt like home
With you, home was anywhere
But you will never be left behind
Give me a moment, I need just a little more time
If I could, I would have made things right
But we can't go back to the way that we used to love
Never apart you're still running through my blood
But we can't go back to the way that we used to love
We can't go back to the way that we used to
But I can't escape, you're still in my head
I'm running from, I'm running from the emptiness
But I can't escape, you're still in my head
I'm running from, I'm running from the emptiness
But I can't escape, you're still in my head
I'm running from, I'm running from the emptiness
But I can't escape, you're still in my head
I'm running from, I'm running from the emptiness
We can't go back to the way that we used to love
The lyrics of Martin Garrix's song "Used to Love" seem to be describing a relationship that has ended, as the singer reminisces about a time where the two of them were happy and in love. The singer revisits the old places they used to go together and recounts the memories they shared. Although they danced together and listened to music, the relationship still came to an end, leaving the singer wishing they could go back to the way things used to be. The lyrics paint a picture of a nostalgia-filled heartbreak.
The lyrics show the singer struggling to move on from the relationship, with their ex still running through their blood and staying in their head. They are trying to escape the emptiness they feel but can't seem to shake off the memories and the pain. Despite this, the singer acknowledges that they can't go back to the way that they used to love and seems to be accepting that it is time to move on.
Overall, the lyrics of "Used To Love" are relatable to anyone who has been through a difficult breakup and echoes the struggles of living with the memories of past love.
