In My Other World
Martin L. Gore Lyrics

There is no pain
And all my thoughts
Are clouds of happiness
In my other world
My heart beats red
There is no gun
And I don't really want your kiss
My thoughts don't make me cry
My heart's not filled with grey sadness
My ears can't hear you lie
And I can't even see your face
I've never heard your name
My heart is still my thoughts are calm
And light has filled this space
In my other world
My pain is bliss
I own your soul
I own your kiss
In my other world
The lyrics of Martin L. Gore's song "In My Other World" depict a utopian world where the singer experiences no emotional pain or negative thoughts, instead finding happiness and peace in a world free from violence and fear. The singer’s heart beats red, a symbol of strong emotions and vitality, while they remain free from the threat of violence, represented by the absence of guns. The singer does not long for the physical intimacy of another person or feel the pain of rejection because they do not experience the same emotions as humans do. Instead, they find contentment in their own thoughts and feelings, and the light fills the space where negative emotions used to be.
These lyrics employ vivid imagery to describe a world that is almost ethereal in its beauty, and they take the listener on a journey of self-discovery and liberation from the limitations of the human condition. The singer has created a world for themselves that is free from fear and pain, and instead, it is a place of peace, serenity, and happiness. It is a reflection of the singer's inward journey towards finding balance and joy within themselves, rather than relying on external factors.
