Even the way they die is symbolic. Noble 1 as the CAPTAIN dies with his ship. Noble 2 (Intel) gets a bullet to the head. Noble 4 loved his knives and dies by the sword... literally. Noble 5 Heavy weapons guy... dies in a massive explosion. And you, as Noble 6 "the lone wolf" you die alone. If Noble 3 had died on reach, the fact that he mysteriously disappeared during a mission is symbolic to the fact he was a SNIPER and therefore a fitting death would be an unseen one.

@@darthpyrrhus2134 When Halsey first met Noble team she's knew they weren't SIIs (other then Jorge who was a SII), but knew there was something different about Noble team then any other SIII team. All of Noble team were augmented within the SIII program but instead of just being compatible for the program they were superior then all other SIII. Which is why Halsey took a great interest in Noble, as they reminded her of John 117 back when she first started the Spartan program.

There is a diary of Halsey which is amazing & if you are interested is a great read & full of detail.

I remember when reach came out a lot of original halo fans said it was shit, and too different to normal halo. Now everyone says it is one of the best games ever made (which I agree with) maybe reach was slightly ahead of its time or something but I'm glad it'll be remembered as a FUCKING GREAT game! I still play it often after 5 years haha

I haven't played Reach in half a decade, but I remember the campaign like it was yesterday. It took a LOT of Generals to bring me down. The trick to surviving this mission the longest was activating the skull that recharged your shields when you melee, and pick up their swords. I went 4-5 hours on this one mission. I'm pretty sure I would have ripped their arms and legs off and beat their buddies with them if I could.

Reach was amazing. The body language, the way the characters felt so real, all of it. I still remember loading into the final mission, desperately struggling, under the impression that-somehow- I would survive and N6 would be able to live on. I was almost thirty minutes in when I slowly began to realize that this was it. There was no leaving. And it kind of hits you, after having watched all the other lovable characters get killed off, that not even you would spared. And I still remember the feeling when I watched N6 get killed, like damn. Reach was rollercoaster of emotions. I'll never forget it.

Both Reach and Rogue One do tell a similar story: A band of battle-hardened misfits fighting against overwhelming odds, with no chance of victory, but still fighting and eventually sacrificing themselves hoping and believing that their suffering would eventually bring victory for those who live on. It's sad, but beautifully poetic. Not to mention realistic, as most people in that situation (like the thousands of soldiers on Reach) will never live to see the good that their sacrifices brought for everyone else.

Something I find unique with Reach's narrative is that not only are you immersed, seeing through Noble Six's eyes, but you can customize the armor for the campaign, multiplayer, firefight, and forge. This detail further builds the connection between Noble Six's perspective and the player's immersion, because the player is wearing the same armor as Noble SIx.

I fell out of grace with Halo for a very long time until my friend reinvigorated my interest about a year ago. Up until that point, I had only played Combat Evolved, 2, and part of 3. Throughout the course of that year, I played Halo Wars, 4, and 5. Three days ago, I received a free copy of Reach. While I had enjoyed the games I'd played thus far, (with the exception of Halo 5,) my expectations were not very high for Reach. I knew it was the fulcrum of 343's takeover of Halo, which in my mind did not bode well. I finished it today. Now, I render my judgment. I find Halo Reach to not only be the best Halo game, but one of the best video games I have ever played. It is such a powerfully constructed game that I fear my words can't do it justice. Bungie's twilight hour turned out to be its brightest. I am now, most assuredly, a Halo fan for life.

And yes apart from Jorge who is a S II, the rest are S IIIs and would definitely been cool to see Thom in action but according to that preview of Halo Reaches' launch trailer, I'd say Thom was pretty much a Lone Wolf himself. Just probably wasn't much as a hyper lethal vector soldier to outcome his fate.

I always hated the last mission, because I know the impending doom I’m about to face. I can try to survive as long as possible but I know it’s futile. As the world burns around me there is no escape. It’s a perfect ending to such a great game.

The characters were awesome but what really gave the sense of hopelessness as the game progressed was the cutscenes where it showed the planet’s landscapes. With every mission its natural looks changed to a war ravaged place, up until the end you see it set ablaze as the glassing takes place. Images say more than words.
