Count On Me
Martin Page Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

In every man, a fear is born
He must stand within the storm
And wake the faith
That sleeps so deep within the heart

In the darkest hour, we face the past
As thunder rolls across our path
A sign of hope
When you reach out for my hand

You can always count on me
Wherever you go is where I'll be
Call on me in your hour of need
I'll carry you home, 'cause I believe
It never dies
The spirit flies
Always know
You can count on me

There's an open road we travel down
To build the soul, to bridge the clouds
This day, I know
Our trust can never be broken

You can always count on me
Wherever you go is where I'll be
Call on me in your hour of need
I'll carry you home, 'cause I believe
It never dies
The spirit flies
Always know
You can count on me

Now I can see where the darkness ends
Now I can see where the light begins
In your strength, another day
In your eyes, I see my way

This day, I know
Our trust can never be broken

You can always count on me
Wherever you go is where I'll be
Call me in your hour of need
I'll carry you home, 'cause I believe
It never dies
The spirit flies

Always know
You can count on me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Martin Page’s song “Count On Me” express the idea that in life we all have moments of fear and darkness where we need support, but in those moments, we should never feel alone because we can always count on someone to be there for us. The song highlights the power of connection and emphasizes the importance of building trust and supporting each other through hard times. The lyrics suggest that we should wake up the faith that lies deep within our hearts, face the past in the darkest of hours, and travel down the open road to build a strong soul and bridge the clouds.

The singer emphasizes that he will always be there for the person he is singing to, “wherever you go is where I’ll be,” and that he will carry them home because he believes in the spirit that never dies and always flies. The song has a positive message of hope and suggests that we should never give up, even when we face adversity. It implies that there are people in our lives who love and care for us, and we should always reach out to them when we need a helping hand.

Overall, the song is a beautiful tribute to the power of love, friendship, and connection. It encourages people to trust each other and build genuine relationships that can sustain them through thick and thin.

Nearly all the actors who played the more mature characters are no longer with us. The actress who played Miss Higgins - Francesca P Roberts - thankfully is still with us, but the male actors who played Jimmy Horn, Pappy Jack, John Riley and Noah have all sadly passed.Thankfully the younger actors like James Marshall, Cuba Gooding Junior, Jon Seda and Cara Buono are still with us, but in their early to mid 50's. It is such a shame as they were all incredible in this film which remains one of my favourites of all time.

@cf9017

You are correct. Unfortunately they have passed but they definitely acted superb in this movie.

I recently got done watching this gem of a movie and I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
Ahhh 90s the decade of real people who harbored dignity and morals instead of being driven by money and propaganda.
Dear Santa🎅 please make the 90s pay us a visit soon with the 80s at hand... both decades are very missed😔
