Martin Solveig then moved to another famous Paris nightclub Les Bains Douches where he worked with famous DJs such as Todd Terry, Roger Sanchez and Bob Sinclar. His popularity further increased with the Pure parties at the Queen Club either as a DJ or as an art director.
He started producing at an early stage of his career. Through his own Mixture label, he released two 12-inch singles, "Heart of Africa" and "Come With Me". These singles combined dance music with musicians playing traditional instruments. Bob Sinclar then asked him to join the Africanism project combining African music and electronic music. He later released the "Edony" single which received airplay worldwide.
In 2002, he released the album Sur La Terre, which contains both "Heart of Africa" and "Edony". The album was released internationally through Universal Music. Another notable track on the album is "Linda" where he plays tribute to Fela Kuti and Serge Gainsbourg. The album was released in 2004 in the US. In 2003, he worked with Salif Keita on "Madan" which made the charts across Europe, notably France, Italy and Greece. "Rocking Music", which features a punk rock guitar riff (and also known for having Justin Timberlake style vocals), has also made the top 40 in Australia in February 2004. "Madan" and "Rocking Music" have both been featured in his second album, Suite. Following singles included "I'm A Good Man", and "Everybody".
Requiem Pour Un Con
Martin Solveig Lyrics

Elles jouent pour toi
Il est terrible cet air là
J'espère que tu aimes
C'est assez beau non
C'est le requiem pour un con
Je l'ai composé spécialement pour toi
C'est un joli thème
Tu ne trouves pas
Semblable à toi même
Pauvre con
Voici les orgues
Qui remettent ça
Faut qu't'apprennes par coeur cet air là
Que tu n'aies pas même
Une hésitation
Sur le requiem pour un con
Quoi tu me regardes
Tu n'apprécies pas
Mais qu'est-ce qu'y a là dedans
Qui t'plaît pas
Pour moi c'est idem
Que ça t'plaise ou non
J'te l'rejoue quand même
Pauvre con
Ecoute les orgues
Elles jouent pour toi
Il est terrible cet air là
J'espère que tu aimes
C'est assez beau non
C'est le requiem pour un con
Je l'ai composé spécialement pour toi
A ta mémoire de scélérat
Sur ta figure blême
Aux murs des prisons
J'inscrirai moi-même : " Pauvre con "
The lyrics of Martin Solveig's "Requiem Pour un Con" describe a sense of twisted pleasure and satisfaction in playing a requiem for someone who is no longer around. The composer plays the organ as if it were a eulogy, but instead of mourning the loss of the person, he takes delight in insulting them instead. In the first verse, the composer asks the listener to listen to the beautiful sound of the organ and sarcastically hopes they enjoy it, as it is a requiem for a "silly fool" (con). The second verse reveals that the piece was composed specifically for the deceased as a way to mock and belittle them, with the composer declaring that it is a beautiful theme, similar to the departed person themselves.
The third verse sees the composer replaying the piece for the listener and demanding that they learn it by heart, so they can't even hesitate when it is played in memory of the deceased. The last verse suggests further disdain for the deceased as the composer declares that they will personally inscribe "silly fool" (pauvre con) on the walls of prisons, right alongside a portrait of the departed. Overall, the lyrics express a sense of twisted pleasure in playing a beautiful piece of music, not as an act of mourning, but specifically as an insult to the person who has passed away.
