A Felicidade
Martinho Da Vila Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Felicidade sim
A felicidade é como a gota
De orvalho numa pétala de flor
Brilha tranqüila
Depois de leve oscila
E cai como uma lágrima de amor
A felicidade do pobre parece
A grande ilusão do Carnaval
A gente trabalha o ano inteiro
Por um momento de sonho
Pra fazer a fantasia
De rei ou de pirata ou jardineira
Pra tudo se acabar na quarta feira
Tristeza não tem fim
Felicidade sim
A felicidade é como a pluma
Que o vento vai levando pelo ar
Voa tão leve
Mas tem a vida breve
Precisa que haja vento sem parar
A minha felicidade está sonhando
Nos olhos da minha namorada
É como esta noite
Passando, passando
Em busca da madrugada
Falem baixo, por favor
Pra que ela acorde alegre como o dia
Oferecendo beijos de amor
Tristeza não tem fim
The lyrics of Martinho da Vila's song A Felicidade, translated in English as Happiness, are a reflection on the fleeting nature of happiness and the contrast between it and sadness. The first two lines, "Tristeza não tem fim / Felicidade sim" (which roughly translates to "Sadness has no end / Happiness, yes"), set the tone for the rest of the song. It's a melancholic recognition that while sadness can seem to drag on forever, happiness is elusive and temporary.
The lyrics go on to use metaphors to describe happiness, such as comparing it to a drop of dew on a flower petal or a feather being carried by the wind. These images add to the feeling that happiness is something fragile and easily lost, even as it brings light and joy into our lives.
