The hope and positivity that the sun represents has disappeared, leaving behind a sense of darkness and despair.

And clouds are black with fury
The natural world itself seems to be angry and vengeful, as seen in the menacing black clouds.

The total absence of the light, a moonless night
The darkness is complete, with even the light of the moon failing to provide any respite from the gloom.

Cavernous creatures laughing
The very creatures that inhabit the darkness itself seem to mock and laugh at the helplessness of humanity.

Inspired by scornful pity
The creatures feel both angry and disdainful towards humanity, but also take some twisted pleasure in our suffering.

Harshly ironic how belief could turn to dust
The once firm belief in a benevolent god has been cruelly shattered by the realities of the world, leaving only despair and doubt.

Hypocrite shrouds of disgrace
Symbols of mourning are worn as a sign of respect, but the very people wearing them are themselves hypocrites who played a part in the downfall of faith.

Worn as a sign of mourning
The outward show of grief and sadness is all that is left, with no genuine faith or belief behind it.

Down on the knees, stemming from evil of the mind
Even those who do still pray do so out of a sense of fear and desperation, rather than true belief or conviction.

You all don’t bother praying
The call to prayer falls on deaf ears, as people have given up on the idea of a benevolent god altogether.

Your god of wrath and pain
The once-beloved god of hope and mercy has been transformed in the minds of many into a cruel and vengeful deity.

You’re all alone tonight
Despite whatever once bound us together (faith, community, etc.), tonight we are all utterly alone in the face of our despair and suffering.

The downfall of faith
The once-mighty force that put the world in order has been destroyed, leaving behind nothing but emptiness and darkness.

Mercy that is just feigned
Even the remaining traces of mercy or compassion are revealed to be empty gestures, with no real feeling or substance behind them.

Dark house of compassion
Even those places that were once identified with hope and kindness (such as religious institutions) have been tainted by corruption and despair.

Soiled with dirt on the inside
Despite whatever beautiful facades they might present to the outside world, these institutions are revealed to be deeply corrupt and rotten when looked at more closely.

Cherish devotion through salvation’s candlelight
Despite everything, there are still those who cling to the idea of faith and hope, even if only in the fleeting light of salvation's candle.

Omnipotent and ominous
Even the supposed 'all-powerful' god that created us and oversees the universe has become a source of fear and terror for many.

To grey a life so dreadfully
This faithless existence is a bleak, joyless one that leaves little room for happiness or positive emotions.

The child of loathing you created will get through you
The very system that was created to bring hope and light into the world has instead spawned a generation of bitter and resentful individuals who will turn against their own creators.
