Marvin Pentz Gay, Jr. was born in 1939 to Marvin Gay, Sr. and Alberta Gay in Washington, D.C.. Gaye began his career in Motown in 1958, and soon became Motown's top solo male artist. He scored numerous hits during the 1960s, among them "Ain't That Peculiar", "Stubborn Kind of Fellow", and "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)", as well as several hit duets with Tammi Terrell, including "Ain't No Mountain High Enough"" and "You're All I Need to Get By", before moving on to his own form of musical self-expression.
Along with Stevie Wonder, Gaye is notable for fighting the hit-making—but creatively restrictive—Motown record-making process, in which performers, songwriters and record producers were generally kept in separate camps. Gaye forced Motown to release his 1971 album What's Going On, which is today hailed as one of the best albums of all time. Subsequent releases proved that Gaye, who had been a part-time songwriter for Motown artists during his early years with the label, could write and produce his own singles without having to rely on the Motown system. This achievement would pave the way for the successes of later self-sufficient singer-songwriter-producers in African American music, such as Luther Vandross and Babyface.
During the 1970s, Gaye would release several other notable albums, including Let's Get It On and I Want You, and released several successful singles such as "Come Get to This", "Got to Give It Up" and "Sexual Healing". By the time of his shooting death in 1984, at the hands of his clergyman father, Gaye had become one of the most influential artists of the soul music era.
Give In You Just Can't Win

Try and try again, but to lose me is your fate
You can walk the streets till your feet refuse
But you won't find me, you'll find only the blues
Oh nothin' but the blues, oh baby
So give in, you just can't win
So give in, you just can't win
No, you just can't win
You did me wrong when my love was true
You just led me on, now I've gone away from you, darlin'
If you call me on the phone to remove your pain
There'll be a busy signal, or else an endless ring
Oh nothin' but a ring, oh baby
You can't win, so give in
You just can't win, so give in
Oh baby, give in
Tell me, what do you get when you call me, honey?
Just an endless ring,(an endless ring) oh nothin' but a ring, oh baby
You can't win, so give in
You just can't win, so give in
You just can't win, no you just can't win
Oh baby give in, you know you just can't win
Don't want your love no more, darlin'
This stuff has got to stop
Ah I can't stand it
Don't need the love you got
I don't want your love no more
I've tried it before
I don't want you no more, baby
I don't need you no more
In Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's song "Give In You Just Can't Win," the singer offers a stern warning to a former lover who's desperate to win back their affections. The song speaks to the idea that once trust and commitment are lost in a relationship, they can never truly be regained. The lyrics are uncompromising, declaring that the former lover's attempts to win back their affections are futile and will only result in heartache for them.
The chorus of the song repeats the message "So give in, you just can't win," emphasizing the inevitability of the former lover's defeat. The second verse adds depth to the message by portraying the singer as having moved on and no longer wanting anything to do with the former lover. This shows that the singer has embraced the reality of the situation and understands that their ex is no longer a desirable partner.
Overall, "Give In You Just Can't Win" is a powerful song that speaks to the importance of accepting reality and moving on from relationships that are no longer working. It portrays a message that is still relevant today and reminds us that sometimes, the best thing to do is to let go.

Personally I don't like this kind of songs, I think the great Marvin Gaye is the one who sings such songs like I heard it through the grapevine
