Singing and acting since the age of seven, Saleh has worked with and co-founded a number of independent bands, has sung semsemeya songs, and was one of the most important singers of Sheikh Imam songs.

She is now working on several new musical projects with different musicians from Egypt as well as from the Middle East.

This is a sweet folk and
love hymn that was originated from the Suez Canal area. It may have some roots
to the years 1859 to 1869. At these times, the Egyptian peasants were forced to
bond labor to dig the Suez Canal. Great Britain was a majority owner of that
company then. The labors endured a lot of hardships and thousands died from heat
and drowning. That explains the somber tone of the hymn. With time, it evolved
and the ever loved string instrument “Semsemeyya” remained a feature of all
folklore songs from the Suez Canal cities.
