I'm so happy that they all reached above what they lived through. I have always told people be careful of your words. One word can destroy a person and one word can totally change a person. I rather build a person up. Bullying stays with you for life but we learn to rise above the pain.

I was bullied as a child too. I was only permitted to take a bath or shower once a week ( unlike most of my classmates who did it at the least every other day, if not daily. I also had undiagnosed irritable bowel Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorder, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Kids would us were labeled as "troublemakers" when it was psychiatric years ago in the 70's and 80's when I was in school. I was even bullied into a suicide attempt at ten years old and a nervous breakdown at 8th grade. Both times a mentally ill relative refused to let
me see a psychiatrist! Too top it the police chief lied all over town that I never had a nervous breakdown!! I am so glad bullying is being addressed now, and children with medical issues I dealt with had better options than I had.

As a victim of bullying, I outgrew my bullyers during puberty and they started to leave me alone. It was s couple of years later that I understood that these people were very insecure and unloved. Mostly it was gym class because of the tumors and cafe aulait spots all over my body! I was bullied terribly in grade school by both boys and girls. I went to an all girls private high school hoping to escape. One of the bullies followed me there. I was extremely lucky in that my friends shielded me so well from what this girl was saying that I wascompletely unaware of this going on behind my back. In sophomore year, so many girls were so surprised that I was so different from what this girl was saying about me. I was so extremely lucky to have this close network of just a few friends who literally rescued me and I didn't even know it at the time. I'm still friends with this tight group to this day. I was bullied all through four years of High School. Not because I looked different but because I was skinny (135lbs) and weak. That’s the bad part. The good part is I told myself one day I would do something about it. Just before I got out of the Navy I took Kodenkan martial art. After I got out of the Navy I took Wado Ryu. I also trained in Kajukenbo. I eventually got my Ni Dan Second degree black belt in Shorin Ryu Karate Do teaching it for three years at the Omine Karate Dojo in San Bruno California. It’s been an experience I will never forget.

The girl with the facial hair- I know someone with Poly ovarian cyst disease and she has such a thick beard and moustache that she has to shave every day. She shaves in the morning and by evening already has the amount of regrowth most men have after 24+ hours. It's been a struggle for her. We all let her know that she needn't feel awkward around us. ♡

I have that, as well as my twin daughters but we don't have the facial hair. We do however get the cysts. I had a HUGE one taken out 4 years ago, cut me from bikini to 2.5 inches above my naval. As to bullying, in my day you just had to beat them once and they let you alone. Unfortunately in today's school system YOU would get the punishment so the bullying goes on unabated. If you complain it only gets worse for you.

God bless you sweetheart I was born with a blind eye and my dad used to tell me Innoway it was helpful because I could tell if people were kind or not in seconds! Because the kind people hung around :) And the cruel ones probably teased me a lot but at least they walked away after….and I didn’t get tricked into having long friendships with people that turned out to be mean and hateful in the end. I know it hurts and I haven’t always taken my own advice but it’s best to get approval from those people we love, from inside and from God. Oh I’m so sorry sweetie please don’t feel too bad people who are confident are perceived by others as more attractive. Studies have proven this over and over decade after decade! So maybe try self affirmation…a few minutes every day. I do it sitting still for a few minutes a day. Literally say (with my eyes closed because I get distracted). Something along the lines of
“I am a kind person. I am more than enough. I can choose to take in hateful things people say or throw those words away. We all only have a certain amount of time on this Earth and we can’t waste our time feeling bad about ourselves. If we do the bullies win…and they don’t deserve to win. As you get older we may suddenly look up and realize we’ve given up 80% of our time/hours/years feeling bad because others being mean to me and they are not taking anymore from me today” ….”I am going to feel joy today!” Keep a list and add to it for days your stuck not knowing what to say. Just tell you what you tell others when they are hurting. Remember to love yourself :) I even use “my cute little dogs love me. They make me laugh and I love them very much! I have shelter, clothing water and food. your day is your day. Help out at a homeless shelter once a month. Get out and help others. It gives us a feeling of goodwill and real connections to others.

Grade 4 that is so sad! I'm so happy you got thru that. My daughter is in grade 3 and was bullied starting in kindergarten, she has no conditions either shes just so young, fun and out there... I can't beat children up for like some others are saying in comments that they would. But if I find out I tell my daughter not to listen to that. Along with a call to the school to address the bully. That's really easy for someone to say if they have never experienced any bullying and have lead a relatively normal life. I have been on the receiving end and it's hard to ignore something that is part of your every day life, believe me. You end up believing everything that has been said about you. Luckily there is plastic surgery that can correct a lot of disfigurements which I thank God for. I changed my life for the better.

As i say to my 9 year old daughter... true beauty is not what you see just by looking at someone.
Kindness, compassion, understanding, and biggest of all, how you treat others is true beauty.

As i also say to my daughter, people usually bully others because they don't like themselves or their lives.
Its reasons like this that i based my choice on what school my older son went to and daughter now goes to.
The school is small compared to most of the other schools, but best of all, there is only an oval between the mainstream school and the special school. The oval is a shared oval between the 2, and the kids get to interact with each other.

I too was bullied as a child. From elementary school, all the way up to my senior year of high school, the bullying never ended. It stayed the same right up until returning to class from spring break. About a week after spring break, I physically and mentally had all I could take and snapped. It wasn't until being provoked by one of the meanest kids in school. He was one of those kind of people who surrounded himself with underclassmen to make himself look important and influential. So, here's this bully with all his little minions standing around, when he approaches me at my locker. I was getting my books for my next class, when he grabbed my arm, knocked the books to the floor, and slammed the locker door on my hand. The next thing I remember is being held back by the principal and two coaches, and the bully laying on the floor, unconscious and bleeding.
I don't know exactly what I did to the boy, and I'm sure no one would give an accurate account of the event, but from that point on, nobody bullied me any more. Do I regret what I did ? I don't know, I still can't remember. Do I feel sorry for what I did ? I did. I made apologies to everyone involved, and made my peace with it.
Please don't get me wrong. I don't condone or advocate violence as a solution, this is just what happened in my case. Sometimes, however, it's the only thing some people understand.

I was taught at a very very young age not to talk about other people and never to laugh or make fun of anyone who was different. And I never did

It's always been such a mystery to me how anybody can justify tormenting someone for something that they cannot help. It's just so shytty. Picking on someone with physical abnormalities & calling them names, bringing attention to it... as if that person wasn't aware of it. They know! They know better than anyone. I was teased as a kid. I have what some would call unusual features due to an interesting combination of genes I guess. I'm almost entirely Native American German & Finnish. Apparently that makes for a fascinating appearance & a strange body shape. I have a very long torso, but short stocky legs. My feet are weird, crazy high high arches & I have thumbs that are huge... bigger than the thumbs of most of the men I know, by a lot in some cases. I was called Cat eyes, I was asked "What are you?" People would look at me & then do a double take. I was told I looked like I was made of mismatched parts. A science experiment gone awry. It made me very self conscious for a long time. But, I grew into my looks & now I'm described as exotic looking. Which works for me. I'm cool with me now, as I like to say - it's just the skin I'm in! Actually, it's kind of funny, I have been mistaken for Stevie Nicks more than a dozen times. Aaaaand I have a very long & pointy tongue & a very long & unusual name that helped set me apart even more. Kids will find anything they can to zero in on & bring attention to. The best any parent can do is instill in their children a deep sense of self worth regardless of what might be different about them while simultaneously teaching them to stick up for the bullied & never become one themselves.

My nephew has Vitiligo and it did the opposit of bullying. He went from a nobody with few friends, to somebody with an interesting look that everyone wanted to ask him about. His personality did the rest. Now he's the cool kid with many friends.

All of you are beautiful even if you don’t feel beautiful. I have a granddaughter with problems. It's a terrible shame that schools would let you get bullied. Don’t listen to anyone who bullies you. If it's coming from the internet, block them. I'm handicapped & that's what I do. I just had to block a bully that took everything I said & twisted it so other people chimed in. I won't listen to them & would advise everyone who's getting bullied online to block them & don’t give it another thought. Be good people & others will see it. 💜💙

These kids are amazing and beautiful. The picture of Justin Stewart made me smile, that huge thousand watt smile of his. He’s a very good looking young man. I was also bullied relentlessly throughout school for my eyes being farther apart (i was told it’s because I’m part Argentinian, I honestly don’t know), also for my small nose and full lips. Quite a few times the bullying and torment took on creepy X-rated vibe. I was terrified to go to school.

I could not imagine being builled for health issues as a child. I had PCOS like the one young lady but luckily my hair didn't grow that much on my face. I knew many who did have that happen to. I now live with 7 autoimmune diseases the last from immunotherapy drug to help fight two of my primary cancers. Squamous cell carcinoma that spread to my bones and endometrial cancer. I feel completely blessed to have won against a terminal cancer and those drug's changed my body and life forever along with my voice. Now I don't go out much or talk often because of the damage but not because people pick on me but because I'm not so insecure but that's with me and nobody else. To hear these children's stories makes me angry and happy. Every single one is amazing in their own right and the fact that they never gave up on this judgmental world. Bravo to all these children.

I was quiet back in 1st grade, I rarely had friends and these two boys used to tease me on the bus by shoving me against the window. I was sick of it so when they tried it again, my hands curled to fists and I swung it toward them and bonked their heads to hard, they nearly forgot their memory, obviously they were gonna snitch on me but idc, the world needs better people like you!!

Just remember, bullies are not happy with their own life, and that's why they search for your insecurities to ruin yours'.
The best thing to do is ignore and if it gets' worse fight back by reporting them.

@@gamieplays4807 A good parent teaches their kids how to defend themselves from such people and more so, how to defend the weak. Don't be weak and join in with the bullies. I grew up a coward as a child, picked on all the time. That ended when I entered high school as it was a new start for me and it worked. Standing up for myself stopped the bullying. To the young, it is a difficult thing to do when you are scared but you will be happy you did when you do. ;-)

I'm still amazed by bullying. We picked on each other so much it was like a game to see who could come up with the most insulting things, but we were friends. There were plenty of small kids, handicap kids, or other easy targets, but we never bothered them.

I can't say I was bullied as I have always taller and stronger than most people, but my friend group threw out my school life consisted of those who were and only those who were and I tried to protect as much as I could. The amount of fights I got into was unbelievable so I was in trouble a lot.

I don't understand how people can make fun of things people can't control. I was bullied but have no physical abnormalities. I believe bullies would pick on anyone who may be sweet natured,or quiet. I was abused at home and bullied at school. No where to run for me. Some people are just plain evil. They don't need a reason to be mean.their abusive ways rings loud and clear that they are the most disgusting people!!!😡

I am deaf and when I was little, several deaf bullied harassed me and teachers caught them and no longer in our school to alternative school (where trouble bullied children ) to have boot camp and counselling them and do probation volunteer work with disablied children daily until 12th grade. All realized teach them a lesson and change. They owed victim an apology.

I hate bullies I used to work in a school and some of the bulling going on there was unbelievable you try and stop it but as soon as you are out of the way the bulling starts again we couldn't watch them 24/7

Like so many in these comments, I was bullied in school because I was pathologically shy and suffered from a serious mental illness. Also, my Grandbaby, who is now 23-years-old, was bullied because her teeth stuck out. She had braces for 3 years and that totally fixed the problem. But when it comes to those who do the bullying, I personally think their lives must suck. I have always told my Daughter and my Grandbaby that when they are picked on by others, it's not because of who THEY are but because of the inner turmoil of their tormentors.
