Look Up
Mas Ysa Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Show me what, show me what
Show me what love
Say that you're leaving,
And I wanna know where you run
You march these seasons two times
But you live in my mind
I don't keep live
It's the grace that you're giving
I, I wanna know when you're done

Always lookin', always lookin', always lookin' up
It's the grace that you're giving
and I, I wanna know when you're done!
When you look up, what you're seeing?
Share it with me, don't bother
Your ache, your heart for mine

Who's the work in the making changes?

I'm not working, no making changes
It's the grace that you give in
and I, I hurt you once before the sun
Loved one, someone
Show me what, show me what
Show me what love

It's the grace that you're giving
and I, I wanna know when you're done!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Mas Ysa's song Look Up address the universal theme of love and its complexities. The opening lines, "Show me what love, say that you're leaving, and I wanna know where you run" suggest a desperation to understand one's own feelings and those of the person they love. The singer is aware of the fragility of their relationship, noting that the object of his affection "march(es) these seasons two times" but still "live(s) in (his) mind."

The chorus, "Always lookin', always lookin', always lookin' up, it's the grace that you're giving, and I, I wanna know when you're done" reflects the singer's desire for his partner's attention and validation, as well as his own need for reassurance. He asks his partner to show him what she sees when she looks up, suggesting a desire to connect and share experiences. The singer acknowledges the pain he has caused and states that he is not actively trying to change, but rather is dependent on his partner's grace to keep the relationship going.

Overall, the lyrics of Look Up explore the complexities of love and the intricacies of human relationships. The singer acknowledges his own flaws and vulnerability, while seeking connection and understanding with his partner.

This guy is phenomenal. I first came upon him back at the start of 2014, with Shame, but then forgot about him. This track has brought him firmly back into focus with me. He has a way of making music soar, of making you feel you are in the best movie ever when you are walking up the street with him in your headphones. There's something about him that evokes Talk Talk. Hair on end stuff. The last two minutes of this song, which ascends into a flourish of flamenco, is beautiful.

I've heard this song years ago when Spotify recommended to me and it's awesome but I'm glad it's finally on a trailer for new listeners.

Great voice, great music expression: yes!

I don't know why, but this reminds me of Paul Van Dyk's Face to Face. Which is one of my all time favorite trance tracks. I like them both either way, great song. :)
