Spoilers for Endwalker

It`s shown that the primals were corrupted by Ascian influence, because they manipulated the beast tribes to summon their gods using only negative emotions and for the sake of revenge that caused them to go rogue attempting to make everyone worship them. Later on their true version is summoned and they don`t temper people and help the WoL go to the edge of the universe.

So This Sophia we fight might be the worse version of her, same with Sephirot and Zurvan although i doubt they are good gods to begin with lmao.

A full transcript of the lyrics was shown at Fanfest Las Vegas 2016. According to Michael-Christopher Koji Fox, the lyrics describe a Meracydian family torn apart by war against the Allagans and Sophia's brand of "justice" and "balance": after the father is slain in battle by the Allagans ("A torn uniform in hand, farewells unsaid"), the mother becomes abusive ("Forsaken, beaten, tried, on her knees") and, at Sophia's request, the daughter murders the mother to restore the imbalance created by her father's death ("The heart seeketh equilibrium / With balance will your worry part"), and then commits suicide, punishing herself for murder and leaving their home empty and forgotten ("And therewith shoulder thee / One last step only leaving / An empty hearth down by the sea").

Sophia never really struck me as "evil". It's more like she's completely dedicated to keeping balance. If that requires something bad to happen to keep that balance, then she has no qualms about doing it.

I agree, I don't think she's evil, but ironically a slave to her own existence. A being who's sole purpose is to bring balance no matter the cost, even should that balance be at the cost of her own life. It's entirely paradoxical, the primals are wishes and prayers brought to life. Literally. They have extreme power but that power and how they use it is based on the prayers that brought them forth. It's actually a rather cruel spiral they and others get locked into.

@CrosbyNu You probably know this by now, but the details are basically the father died in the/a war, the mother took out her anger and sorrow on their daughter, the daughter prayed to Sophia for guidance, and was told by Sophia to bring 'balance' by killing her mother, then herself. Way I see it, it's the mother's death due to her crimes against her daughter, then the daughter's death due to taking her mother's life or something. Really dark, but it's a good track >_>;

Understanding the nature of the primal and the story of the song makes the lesson kind of dark. So by Sophia’s logic, in death all is equal? It’s a somber but excellent soundtrack.

The lesson is that only in death is all equal. Meaning that aiming for COMPLETE justice/equilibrium will leave the world dead. You're likely not supposed to try to be Sophia, but learn from her mistake. Forgiveness, for instance, may have had less 'justice' - but if she would have forgiven her mother after death, she could have at least been at peace.

In the tale, she is one of the chief antagonists, and as such things are wont to unfold, she meets her end at the hands of the heroes—incurably valiant youths not unlike our adventurer friend here." - Nero, in reference to O3N. He goes on to explain that it could have happened in the 4th Astral Era but is widely regarded as fiction. O4N is also referred to as originating from a fable by Nero, making it very likely that all of the Deltascape denizens are from the Source. Omega did state that they would group subjects by their dimension, and this fits, as they are the first group the WoL fights.

"Given that Omega draws from realms which could be fictional or even other-dimensional, we can only guess at the source upon which the Sigmascape is based." - Cid, in reference to O5N. From here on, we get musings that Omega was pulling history from another dimension for the Sigmascape subjects and that O9N could either be historical or dimensional. Multiversal is entirely a meta concept in this case (and we actually get no direct corroboration from Omega surrounding either points, as far as I'm aware). The point being, XIV's past isn't just the Source's past, but the First's, the Thirteenth's, and as Omega has added, the dimension representing VI.

You can dislike the handling of raids and their story, and you can certainly critique the wasted potential, but I'd say the point you were making is only tangentially related and not entirely accurate.

@Zane Runberg Omega stated he just collected data traveling in the multiverse and thus he create these boss with the data, he didn't go in ''FFXIV past''.

They could have done a whole raid about FFV but decided to throw some FFVI in it and now we most likely won't get a raid based on said game, and that sad when you consider FFIII and FFIV get TONS of references and well cared lore.

@Magikazam Arguably incorrect as each boss being "summoned" implies they existed in XIV's past. They just don't go into detail because the raids aren't about them because they serve as fluff fights. Omega itself certainly isn't lacking in new story and lore.

I can't figure what Sophia's elements are. Her main attacks seem to be lightning based, but she also uses fire for her meteors and wind for her charge.
With Sephiroth using Wind and Earth and Zarvan using Fire and Ice, I'd expected Sophia to use the remaining two of the wheel of the elements, Lightning and Water.

She is original Triad in FF 6. She uses Ultima, Flare (non-elemental), lightning attacks and flash rain (ice and water). The idea that these original gods in FF 6 and XIV are specific class is incorrect. They are the originator of magic. When they were defeated, magic seized to exist. As such any spell that were ever learned or absorbed from Espers originated from these Triads or their powers sourced from them.

That would explain the released followers mistaking the WoL and the Scions for Allagans.
