This is a really nice throwback to Nobuo Uematsu's debut, his work on Cruise Chaser Blassty for the PC-88, one of Square's earliest games. And honestly, if you listen to the original, this is really good for what they had to work with.

This song has a special place in my heart because it was one of the things that got me into FFXIV. I saw this video and was like "What the fuck why is this so cool? I wanna play this raid."

A few months later, I bought the game and sat down and got to A11 within a month. The active time maneuver was the coolest shit ever, I want more of those.

Were Alexander or Cybertronian heritage it'd easily have power to rival both Primus the Creator and Unicron the Destroyer. I'd like to think that Alexander would be the scales on which creation and destruction are balanced out. Neither can exist without the other so Alexander would use its powers to monitor and adjust the timeline to ensure that both are kept in balance.

This song describes this game's gear progression system perfectly lol. You get your full set of token gear after grinding for who knows how long (moving forward). Then a patch gets released and now your are " moving back " to the grind. You eventually begin to increase your item level again after a few months ( one foot forward ).

I've taken too long to make this comment, but i could listen to that first little bit of the song as ambience while watching the Cruise Chaser...cruising through all that glowy stuff from multiple aesthetic angles. It's just so slick and elegant. I really want to do some night driving to a good loop of that part.

The glowy stuff is meant to be a time-stream. Cruise Chaser is a time traveling assassin robot, sent to defend Alexander's heart at any point in time.

That's also why the lyrics are "forward and back", because he's always cruising through time to whenever he's needed to defend Alexander.

Yes it's basically Arkh, he use all of its skills, the big attack is also called eternal darkness and the target on the floor he use every now and then are the one from the summoning. but for some reason here they decided to call it Cruise Chaser, which is not as cool as Arkh :p

Take a look at old runs or guides for the Savage version. Maybe even try it yourself at min iL sometime. He's legitimately one of the most influential raid bosses to this day, with stuff like Limit Cut being used in the 6.3 Extreme and Optical Sight being used in P3S, just for recent examples.

Also helps that his design is amazing, and his boss theme is so recognizable. He's one of the very few 3rd bosses in a tier to get his own theme song, something only matched by lore important bosses like Phoenix in T12 or Omega beetle in O11.
