I feel great emotion when listening to music, but rarely does it make me "Sad" per se. So we have this soundtrack, Garrus Puts the plaque up with shephards name, his love lost...

All of those things come together in one big fucking wave of loss, sorrow and love.

Fuck me I bawled. Hard. My wife came out and started crying too because it was uncomfortable for her to see that from me.

This music and this game are so very full of impact it might as well be real.

It was real to me.

6:13 to 7:30: This portion of the track is a real tear jerker, more so than any part of any other track in the soundtrack...aside from maybe "A Future for the Krogan." Just all around great stuff.

I thought the same in the beginning then I started to realize that the situation is not so hopeless. We were told that the major Reaper fleet is guarding the Citadel and if we collected enough war assets we see that the sword fleet is doing well againts it. + only a few vessels is equiped with the Sovereign type Thanix canon, upgrade every damn ship and even Reaper capital ships will be in trouble if faced by 3 cruisers. + Cerberus reapers signal disruptor tech + Leviathan artifacts etc.

The Thanix's firepower depends on the size of the mass effect core. The Reaper armor is not superior at all, just their shield/barriers. The size of their mass effect core gives enough power to withstand enourmos enemy fire. Remember what happaned to Sovereign after it lost it's shield? The Normandy and two fighter blow it to pieces with 2-3 torpedos. If the allinace find a way to dissable their shields they are just large moving cans. I hoped the Crucible was this kind of weapon, but instead :(

I think that should've been what the "Priority Earth" mission could've involved, assigning war assets to tasks.

The stealth drives work against reapers. It's why you can fly around reaper controlled territory on the galaxy map. They only discover you once you start scanning everything and give yourself away.

i completely agree with that first statement, i was waiting to choose "THE WHOLE GALAXY IS AGAINST YOU! HUMAN, TURIAN, KROGAN, ASARI, QUARIAN, AND EVEN THE GETH! THE ONLY CONFLICT IS WITH YOU! WE HAVE FOUND PEACE!" but no, shepard rolls over and dies. be it in a very meaningful way. it was still for nothing, there was no reason for the reapers to continue, it was illogical, and that's why the catalyst was doing it all, following logic. plot hole.

This song is perfect for the end of the trilogy. Sad, yet reassuring and optimistic. After playing through the extended cut and listening to this song I feel like I've reached 100% closure and am finally happy about the ending of the story.

Thanks Lewis! :) Just trying to make sense out of the whole wierd stuff we got during ME3. I know there is a lot to hope for but the IT thing could be the answer. There are just to much evidence lying around that you could call IT hopeless desparate speculations. I don't understand why I actually believe in this at all but something tells me they cut ME3 story in half & the Reaper War could continue in the next ME after Shep wakes up. Why wasting time creating a new hero and enemy?

i thought you might know the answer for this - When shephard reaches the citadel, hackett gets a report that 'someone' made it to the citadel. Do they refer the someone as anderson or shephard? If its either one of them, why didnt they know the other person had also reached the citadel?

Especially the end. It has a Halo 3 Legendary ending vibe to it. Not saying that's a bad thing hell that makes me like it more.

There are enough to be everywhere in the galaxy at once, that's how it is for most of a harvest. "Our numbers will darken the skies of every world" Look at the fleet guarding Earth, it was larger than our combined fleet, meanwhile the rest of the galaxy continues to be harvested with no noticeable decrease in efficiency on their part. Is building s super-weapon desperate, yes, but desperate times call for desperate measures, and this is literally, our only chance to win.

Upgrading every ship with that weapon would require resources we don't have, even then a Thanix canon is weaker than the actual Reaper weapon and their armor is superior. Not to mention they have larger numbers over all. If we were lucky, all of the resources you mentioned could be used to secure victory at Earth, but it would cost at least 75% of our ships, and there would be just as many Reapers around the Galaxy as there were at Earth.

What gets me is that when Shepard realizes the catalyst is an AI, why didn't he try to radio EDI or someone to try to seize control of it? EDI could hack it. And obviously Shepard is still in contact with people. No reason he can't reach EDI if he can reach Hackett.

It wasn't an AI, as it said. It was a construct, but not a simple AI. It was..something else, some form of unique entity.

That's a good point, but it still would have been ideal if there was an ending that didn't involve any intervention from the catalyst at all.

Also the indoctrination theory would explain that Harbinger didn't shoot the Normandy because it was too close to Shepard and he still wanted him alive.

The only thing I hated about the extended ending was when Admiral Hackett informs all ships that "This is the Admiral speaking". Why didn't he just say this is Admiral Hackett speaking instead.

But to be fair they would have more ways of using it because they had more time. For instance, they could deploy the crucible at the location the Reapers are hibernating, shut off all the Mass Relays, fire the crucible, thus destroying the Reapers and preventing the blast from spreading across the galaxy, thus by keeping it from killing other synthetics.

you are right .IFF works only for Omega 4 relay. Reapers are synthethic and they cannot be fooled so easy like Sensors.

from what I read, the reason the normandy didn't get blasted out the sky was because it had that reaper iff from mass effect 2. I think that may have been why...I dunno...

Catalyst is not referring to known machines. logically the cycle would be implemented to prevent it so until after the end of the cycle it won't have been observed. It is talking about the 'Machine Devils'. A post-EDI inteligence that either exists in Dark Space or hasn't yet been created.

I think the relays are only supposed to be represented as disabled this time around as opposed to destroyed to counter the argument that destroyed relays lead to destroyed solar systems. I thought the EC was better than what we were given but still lacked imagination. Pity.

Well be realistic here. There's no way we could defeat them without using the Crucible. Remember, we had the whole galaxy pitted against them over one planet, and they still could match us at our best, and this is only one planet they occupy, even if we miraculously beat them at Earth, we would not be able to beat the rest of the Reapers spread around the galaxy.

Not really, the Catalyst's job is to solve the problem of conflict. This doesn't mean securing peace now, it means making sure it is 100% impossible for conflict of organics and synthetics to ever rise again. I'm not saying the Geth and Quarians would go to war again, but if even one synthetic and one organic enter conflict because of being different forms of life, the Catalyst has failed his mandate. I don't agree with his goals, but his logic (outside of Synthesis) works.

We don't know how many reaper ships are at all. There's a lot of them yeah but they can't be everywhere at once. Many planet description in the galaxy map proves it. There are places where the allied forces could even beat them. But pouring everything into the magical prothean superweapon which nobody know will work at all and how to activate it.. well its not just desparate but stupid. The thanix canon can be as powerfull as a Reaper version you just have to attach it to a dreadnought.

Harbinger didn't blew up the Normandy because he was just afraid of troops trying to enter the Citadel, not the ones trying to leave. Also, the Normandy still has the Reaper IFF, so that could also made them ignore it even more.

"Refuse is a logical alternative, but feels a nice FU to those who don't like the endings." Especially since Bioware confirmed that the next cycle just uses the catalyst anyway...
