What makes the scene so heartbreaking is the fact that when Tali sees the quarians go extinct, she not only feels she failed as an admiral of her people, but she was also in a way betrayed by the one erson she loved the most in the entire world, whether you romanced her or not.

The interrupt is actually pretty genius. It's designed to make you think you failed it. Like if you were a half second quicker she would have lived. Was there something you could have done even then to save her? Just like most friends of suicide victims end up actually thinking. The game made you think the same thing as someone who lost a friend to suicide, and it succeeded using nothing more than an impossible prompt.

I wasn’t spoiled , I got this game as a kid, my friends told me to get it , so I did, I blindly stuck to paragon thinking it was a clear good or evil , which lead to accidental romance liara as “more than friends” was the paragon option and I assumed it meant best friends(I was a dumbass child okay) so normally you can save them both with enough paragon or renegade right? The truth is you have to also import with specific survivors and decisions in mass effect 2 , I didn’t know about the latter half , so I remember watching tali die so many times as a kid , I replayed the game so many times thinking they’re must be a way to get enough paragon to save them both but no , later when sorting my games I found mass effect 1 , It came with my Xbox and I hadn’t realised they were the same games , I hadn’t played much of it I played Eden prime a lot but got stuck and stopped playing , it was either in chora’s den where I couldn’t find harken , leading to a very funny moment when my dad realised I was in a strip club as I had no idea what was going on with the place being so young , or it was in Noveria where you have to do a renegade thing to progress to peak 13 , or Virmire where similar to rannoch I got racked with guilt
Anyway after beating me1 and loving it , I bought mass effect 2 and it became my favourite game of all time to this very day , and tali my favourite character and romance, then I imported to mass effect 3 and finally saved them both after maybe almost 10 years , and now , no matter how many times I run through this series , I will never hear this music again

One of the most heartbreaking scenes. Witnessing the genocide of a race caused by one simple decision you made, while your close friend and/or girlfriend watches the flaming skies caused by their death and destruction and commits suicide right in front of you. Mass Effect 3 is the only video game that's ever made me cry, in fact that's true for just about any story, including movies tv shows, books, the news. I've felt sad with these things, but as for actually shedding a tear, none of them pulled it off, only Mass Effect 3.

Same thing for me. I can’t even listen to this track without getting tears in my eyes, and I didn’t even have to kill the quarians in my play throughs. And the ending, witch is bad according to half the world or something, I think is great, exactly because it’s so sad.

Lol just play Mass Effect 2, and they'll both survive. But I chose the Geth in the playthrough where I had to make a choice, because at least they were sorry about destroying the Quarians, and they did nothing to deserve their harsh treatment, all the wanted in the beginning was acceptance as sentient beings with the right to live.

@***** Mate, the first time I played, I hadn't had the save game files from ME2. So I'd had to choose between Tali and the Geth. Later, when I did a complete play-through of the trilogy, I imported my character from ME2 and saved both factions.

@Dustin Whisman On my first playthrough, I hadn't saved Admiral Gerrel, and I also didn't have Legion but Geth VI for this mission. My character was always a paragon. When the time came to choose between destroying the Geth or allowing them to evolve, I wanted to do the right thing and spare them. And Tali died.
Tali's death was... difficult to accept. She was so innocent, so pure. She didn't deserve to die. I reloaded the mission determined to save her no matter what. I still remember the Geth VI's voice as i sided with the Quarians: "Shepard-Commander, this is not justice." And I thought: "I know. But I don't care."

Tali is one of my favorites from Mass Effect, so when I saved the Geth and lost Tali, I almost threw my computer out the window. Way to go EA, thanks for making us feel shitty for letting NPCs die, a whole race for that matter. Garrus, Tali and Joker, the best of Mass Effect, my opinion.

Oh god this scene , I was a kid when I git this game , I had mass effect 1 and 3 , not two , without importing there is no way to save them both , I tried in many run throughs to get enough paragon to save them but it’s not a matter of paragon , it what you’ve done for the quarian people before, without any other option but to put my faith in the games belief of good I killed the quarians , one of the most guilt inducing experiences of my childhood
Years Later I bought mass effect 2 , romanced tali ,perfected the suicide run first try , and saved them both , and if felt damn good

Soundtrack included in the game. Loved this track. Researched when was it played because I couldn't recall. Found out about Tali in Rannoch if Quarian Fleet is defeated. Lied down. Tried not to cry. Cried. A lot.
(My Tali died in the Collector base, back in ME2. Still not over it. Still not over all those deaths).

no matter which you do, It will hit you like a thousand bricks if you didn't accomplish peace: You did genocide. Even if you chose the geth gone, they still beleived and hoped for a better future with the creators. Either way it is like "what have I done?" you can't watch the extinction of one race without your heart breaking. Kar'donna's cries were the end. It is basically saying "You killed so many, was it worth it for the geth? was it worth it for peace?"

First time I played I wasn't able to make peace. I almost chose the geth -- but seeing Tali approach Legion and plead with him broke me, and so I chose the quarians.

Killing Legion and watching the geth go extinct ripped out my heart.

After I found out what happened if you chose the geth, I can only imagine how much it would've messed me up if I made a choice that resulted in Tali stepping off that ledge. Dear god.

I shot Mordin (my personal favorite ME2 character) dead on Tuchanka, and this was honestly the hardest of all the emotional moments in the game. Seeing a species go extinct in the blink of an eye was rough, seeing Tali kill herself was just...unexpected. For those who always managed to make peace between the Geth and Quarians, there are some touching reactions from the other characters to her death that you should check out.

Mass Effect is the most perfect video game series ever. It places you PERFECTLY in Shepard's shoes. You love the character you romance, you consider the others as your friends, like Liara and Garrus. I really love this track and the whole soundtrack of Mass Effect 3. I really love that scene because even if I loved Tali, she was my love interest and I was able to save both races, I discovered that scene after and it made me cry a lot. That scene is as sad as beautiful because the fact that she killed herself is your fault, and you feel the pain in yourself. Because since the beginning, YOU are Shepard, YOU make the decisions, YOU fight with friends and companions, and YOU fall in love with someone in your crew...
The music is beautiful it is perfectly adapted to the situation and it make us feel all of that like if it was real.

From an impartial standpoint, yes. Her character is by far the most well-developed, and goes through an organic personality evolution over the three games. Plus, she gets the most poignant lines and most screen time in ME3. Nevertheless, this scene was heavy, watching Tali die.

Legion...Garrus...Tali...there are so many amazing, memorable characters throughout the Mass Effect series. So many are willing to sacrifice themselves for Shepard... Not many games are around anymore that can actually make you shed a tear when a squadmate takes their last hit...

I think you also hear the first part of the song when you defeat the Reaper on Rannoch. But otherwise, if you didn't mess up your playthrough, you shouldn't hear it in full.

This actually happened on my first playthrough of ME 3. I felt sad but I felt that it was worth of cost especially considering how the Quarians were willing to wipe out a race of sentient species over a war that they themselves started.

Keep in mind ME 3 was the first Mass Effect game that I played 7 years ago, so I couldn't tell both sides to stand down nor did I ever think that the series was more complex than I thought.

On my last playthrough I was fortunately able to do just that, save both the Quarians and the Geth. I felt so relieved, not having to see Tali die, and also being able to save the Geth. Was able to pick the Renegade option to defuse that scenerio. It's actually really badass too, the dialogue written during that part.

I don't even remember what I did but I know I got to save both the first time many years ago. Now that i'm playing again and I specifically roleplayed to choose this route - well, let's just say it's my third favorite soundtrack of the OST - and the one with the most impact. I play the ost when I'm doing things and the swell of the music at 0:55 onwards is just.. heartbreaking. I stop whatever I'm doing and just feel.

Man... 1:50 and on is so emotional. On my 3rd playthrough I had a lot of people die to make it a more emotional than triumphant experience, and I felt so depressed when I watched Tali die with this music playing. BioWare might have botched the ending but damn are they the masters of atmosphere.

My first run of ME3 as Paragon Shepard had me choosing between them.. When I noticed it ended badly.. I reloaded. when THAT didn't work, I reloaded again. That first time, I must've brought down the Reaper at least 5 times, trying my damnedest to broker a peace. In the end, I settled for saving the Quarians, and after ending the game, I promptly started on a Renegade run in ME2, with the sole purpose of doing EVERYTHING I could to make a peace between them available.

You know what's sadder? The first thing, when you chose to side with the Quarian, you have to kill Legion, and all Geth with them. So next play through you're like "Let Tali die this time, at least Legion will live, perfectly balance now" But then, legion still dies. Yeah. Heart: Devastated.

This part in the game was so intense. I chose to help the geth, sacrifying the quarian because I thought they were stupid for starting a war with the geth when the reaper were there. But, I really get caught by surprise at 1:50. I never thought Tali would commit suicide. No game have such amazing storytelling.

Hell no! I did my first playthroughs for Mass Effects with no Do-Overs. Make your decisions and let the chips fall where they may. This moment was so huge for me in the game. I have blind loyalty to a game that proves it was made with passion and has a lot of quality and manages to excite an emotional commitment from me which is VERY rare in any game nowadays. During all my playthrough, I couldn't help but wonder when are they going to shatter my expectation with bugs, low quality dialogue/music/relationships, cheap moral choices, lack of consequences etc. I was never disappointed. The end made me a fan forever. Awesome.

Ah my god first time through I sided with the Geth (plus heretics), thinking maybe the Quarians would hold out. I then watched in horror as the Migrant fleet was decimated, then that piano kicked in... Tali crying... holy shit, my eyes were pretty damp as well tbh. Sure, to get peace, you need 5 'peace points' out of the seven available. Resolving the Tali/Legion conflict scene in ME2 = 1 Saving Admiral Koris = 1 Going into the geth consensus = 1 Clearing Tali of all charges during her trial in ME2 = 2 Destroying the heretics = 2 You must have done everything else right, so that you got 5 points in total, even if you lost 2 from rewriting. I didn't resolve the Tali/Legion conflict and I rewrote the heretics, so I only had 4 points.

Come on, guys. Thane gets up from his death bed and kicks Kai Leng's ass for a bit to save the salarian counselor's life. He's definitely the best character in ME3.

One of the many moments in the game which was spoiled because I had something in my eye. I think there must be something wrong with the disc... y'know, because it... keeps getting dust in my eye. *sobs* I MISS YOU LEGION!!!

They need to bring Legion back, if they ever have a new ending somehow he needs to come back. I don't even care if it is just random revival, just do it!!! If Joker can get my LI from earth after I get hit with the beam and somehow leave the battle of earth without my orders then Legion can come back.

i have to say the same of tali she too has been there since the start and was my sheps love interest she to show much care and compassion for shep but Garrus is by far the all time greatest video game character to have come into light in my personal opinion.. maybe even in current SciFi.. BioWare did an amzing job with these games and im am very sad to see them end

I always thought that the Quarians were in the wrong by constantly attacking the Geth and I loved the scene where the fleet was destroyed but not because I hate them, quite the contrary, it's because it was so emotional and well done. What an amazing trilogy!!

I got them to co op my brother's playthrough on the other hand was not so lucky, i tried to drop him hints he stayed depressed for a while, this track is so emotional glad i never heard it til now

My first playthrough I couldn't get peace. The quarians attacked the Geth and it was the true paragon choice. I felt like my first play through was like an amazing TV series. And having Tali kill herself was a strong emotional realization of how serious everything was. Ultimately it was a better choice because the Geth were stronger for the War Effort. But too bad I had to kill them all off with my ending....which sucked. Made no sense.

Yea, I still always take him to places to be honest. On any ME I play. I probably over-use the poor guy but he's just great to have in battle as well. I agree though, always funny to hear what comments he's got to say whenever you're on a mission. Same for Tali. Glad to hear you're a fan.
