He moved to Montreal at the age of 10 and at 13 he moved to Ottawa where he currently resides. The trilingual artist – he speaks English, French and Arabic fluently – cites Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Aretha Franklin as musical influences. However, growing up he has been exposed to various styles of music and because of that his biggest influence is legendary Arabic singer George Wassouf. “I sing from my heart and George Wassouf taught me to do that", says Massari about how this legendary singer has affected his music.
In 2002, Massari recorded and released “Spitfire” which garnered heavy rotation on Ottawa radio stations. Since then, Massari has been steadily writing and developing his sound and is back in 2005 with his self-titled debut album set for release on May 31st, 2005 through MapleNationWide/Universal. The lead single off the release “Smile For Me” features former Bad Boy Entertainment recording artist Loon. “I’m definitely very selective about the records I get on. It didn’t matter if he was an established artist or not, it was just the quality of the record, the quality of the music that made me want to get involved”, says Loon about his involvement with Massari and the Capital Prophet Records crew. “I’m very proud to be one of the first Canadian male R&B singers to record with a major recording artist from the States”, says Massari. The end result was a hit single that spent 24 weeks on the Top 40 chart, peaking at #18 (BDS CHR) in Canada. Canadian award-winning music video director RT! was responsible for making the “Smile For Me” video one of the hottest urban videos by a Canadian artist. The video was immediately added to heavy rotation at MuchMusic, MuchVibe, and MTV Canada. Canada and the United States were the first to play “Smile For Me”, however other countries such as Germany, Australia, Brazil and the UK have begun playing the hit song.
With the recent release of Massari’s much-anticipated second single “Be Easy”, the pressure was on to keep the momentum going in the weeks leading up to the debut album release. “Be Easy” received early support from radio stations across Canada. The video, once again directed by music video director RT!, was instantly added to heavy rotation across the board on MuchMusic, MuchVibe and MTV2 and added into “Reaction” rotation at Musique Plus.
For this record, Massari worked closely with the Capital Prophet Records production team comprised of Da Heala and Lynx. “Their vibe is a perfect match for my sound and style”, explains Massari. The album draws influences from his middle-eastern origins. “Because of my background, my music is heavily influenced with middle-eastern melodies. Over the past few years so many artists are trying to bring Arabic styles into their music, but mine is authentic.” Along with its culturally rich sound the album with its upbeat club-style tracks, mid-tempo joints and smooth ballads pays special tribute to the ladies. “My music is made for the ladies because that’s where I get my inspiration. You’ll notice a lot of the music is upbeat and positive. Women give off so much energy; it’s hard not to be inspired by them.”

Maybe because they know That I'm a balla
Thousand dolla bottles in the VIP
Plus I had enough of the drama
All of these honeys that would be on me
If you wanna lemme hear ya holla
And then if you wanna could you call on me?
[Chorus 1 by Massari]
Baby could you be down for me
Could you be around for me (Im a lover)
It really don't matter ohh you gotta just smile for me. [x2]
[Chorus 2 Massari]
You know you gotta (wha?)
Just make it hotter (ohh!)
I'm stackin dollas
Ain't no more drama for me [x2]
[Loon Spoken With Chorus 2]
C'mon
You know you gotta
Just make it hotter
Loon
Massari
Lets Go
[Verse 2 by Loon]
What's the sense brushin your teeth when your not gon smile.
I know I'm a bad boy but I'm not that wild.
I might hang out late but I'm not that foul.
These chicks be on my back like they got my child.
Meanwhile you know my style, I'm high profile.
Even though I be in the hood where the gats go bloa!
I got stacks and pals, rowin catsters wow, actin here ma that's not your style.
I can tell by the Chanel you livin it well.
But you ain't used to dealin with cats that livin in hell.
Used to catch tryin to get in your tell, cats sniff your trail, stocky boots why you walkin those heels.
Kinda ill how you makin it hotter in your Gucci and Prada.
You the reason why a groupie you nada.
Nigga never get seen in Nevada, sippin pina colada, not with me momma nah uh. (you you you gotta)
[Chorus 2 x2]
[Verse 3 by Massari]
I'm comin in Gucci and Parda
And then they lookin when they pass by me
When they run up they run up they wanna holla
And they only thing that I say is "Hey Mami"
Then I invited shorty to a bottle
She said she didn't drink VSOP.
So then I opened up another bottle
After that I took her home with me.
[Chorus 1 x2]
[Chorus 2 x4]
Smile for me Baby.
The song "Smile For Me" by Massari featuring Loon is a hip hop track where the two artists boast about their wealth, style and love for the ladies. The song begins with Loon's spoken word intro leading Massari into the first verse. Massari's verse tells of how he is a charmer and has the ladies after him, possibly for his balla lifestyle. He's had enough of the drama and asks the ladies to holla, be down and around for him or just smile as he continues to stack his dollars. The chorus is a repetition of the phrase "could you be down for me, could you be around for me, it really don't matter, oh you gotta just smile for me" delivered in a catchy way.
Loon takes over the second verse, telling the ladies that it does not make sense to brush their teeth if they are not going to smile. He's a bad boy but not that wild and has chicks after him like they have his child. He's in the hood, but he's high profile, so he's got stacks and pals riding expensive cars. He's attracted to a particular lady who is "makin it hotter in your Gucci and Prada," and even though she's living it well, she's not used to dealing with boys that live in hell.
The third and final verse gets Massari to open another bottle when the lady he invites over refuses to drink VSOP. He's taken by her, and they end up going home together. The song ends with the chorus, reminding the ladies to smile for him.
