Mad Professor heavily edits the original material to form a slow, pulsating mix in which the beat is emphasized, reverb is extensively used and the occasional vocals (many of the tracks are almost entirely instrumental) fade in-and-out in typical dub fashion, making a mix that is hypnotic and occasionally overwhelming. The result, which will be over-repetitive for some, is arguably more textured than the original, in which many of the tracks were sparse compared to a typical Massive Attack production. No Protection does lose any sense of the jazzy feel of Protection, but then it is a dub remix album.

Wow, this MIGHT be the first time I've heard a dub (or along those lines) tune without a bassline, and Im dub fanatic man! Seems like it belongs on the ending credits of one of the OLD classic Manga films that used to come on Channel4 every friday at 10, like 10 years ago. Maybe a scene from Ghost in the Shell or Akira, I can picture it now!
@fontaholic
I think this is in my top 10 list of all tine. Great atmosphere.

I actually own this CD, in perfect state, although I used to play in in my car like all the time. The first song is the best by far.
