Antidote
Master Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I have seen the light, and I have changed my ways
I have learned to live, to fight for every day
I've found inside, the will to face my fear

[Chorus]
Do you want to die, I have the antidote
Do you want to die, has your life been so remote?
Contemplate the way, attempt the suicide,
We'll suply the means, the means to end your life
Is paradise in hell, has heaven been on earth?
Only time will tell, what your life's been worth

[Repeat Chorus]

Has your life been one big joke?

Overall Meaning

Are you tired of living with the pain and the despair? Have you ever considered ending it all? These are the questions that Master asks in their song Antidote. The song begins with the singer stating that they have had a transformative experience, that they have seen the light, and that they have learned to fight for each day. The singer has found the will to face their fears and has presumably come out on the other side a stronger, more resilient person.

The chorus is a direct address to those who may be struggling, those who may feel like they want to end their lives. The singer offers the listener an antidote, a way out of their pain. They ask if life has been so remote, so difficult, that death seems like the only escape. They provide the means to end one's life but question whether paradise is in hell or if heaven has been on earth all along. Ultimately, the song seems to be a plea for those who may be feeling despair to hold on and find the beauty in life despite their pain.
