Make Me Feel Good
Matt Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You make me feel so young
You make me feel as though spring has sprung
And every time I see you grin
I'm such a happy in-div-dual

The moment that you speak
I wanna go play hide and seek
I wanna go and bounce the moon
Just like a toy balloon

You and I are just like a couple of tots
Runnin' across the meadow
Pickin' up lots of forget me nots

You make me feel so young
You make me feel there are songs to be sung Bells to be rung
And a wonderful spring to be sprung
And even when I'm old and gray

I'm gonna feel the way I do today
'Cos you make me feel so young

Overall Meaning

The song "Make Me Feel Good" by Matt features lyrics that express the joy and happiness that is experienced by being in love with someone. The first verse sets the tone for the rest of the song by describing how being with the person makes the singer feel young and alive. The use of "spring has sprung" is an allusion to the idea of renewal and rebirth, which is often associated with youth and the changing of seasons. The second line emphasizes this sentiment with the use of the word "young" again.

The second verse continues the theme of youthfulness as the singer expresses a desire to play and have fun with their partner, stating that their happiness is inextricably tied to the person's presence. The reference to "bounce the moon" is a metaphor for the boundless energy and enthusiasm that is felt when in love. The sense of playfulness and childlike innocence is emphasized in the third verse as the singer compares themselves and their partner to innocent children running around in a meadow picking flowers.

The final verse affirms that the love and happiness that the singer feels is not dependent on age but is evergreen and enduring. As they grow old together, they will continue to feel the same way because of the love that they share. The overall message of the song is one of pure joy and happiness that is felt by being in love with someone who makes you feel alive and young.

I found a way I could catch that feel good
Skies been turnin', fires been burnin' since '93
Wait just a moment, I can drop my values
Skies been turnin', fires been burnin' since 17
Travelin' so far to get there
All just to be here again
All just to see what they saw back then
I think it's time that you crawl back home, son
Fire's still scorchin', you've been scorned
And you look abused
Did you get out all of that angry passion?
Is it still formin'? Has it started to torture you?
Travelin' so far to get there
All just to be here again
All just to see what they saw back then
Well, you could put it all on me
Oh, you could put it all on me
Oh, you could put it all on me
I found a way I could catch that feel good
Skies been turnin', fires been burnin' since '93

I found a way I could catch that feel good
Sky’s been turning, fires been burning since ‘93
Wait just a moment I can drop my values
Sky’s been turning, fires been burning since ‘17
Travelling so far to get there
Or/All just to be here again
Or/All just to see what they saw back then
I think its time you crawl back home son
Fires still scorching
You’ve been scorned and you look abused
But did you get out all that angry passion
Is it still forming
Has it started to torture you
Travelling so far to get there
Or/All just to be here again
Or/All just to see what they saw back then
Well you could put it all on me
Or you could put it all on me [x2]
I found a way I could catch that feel good
Sky’s been turning
Fires been burning since ‘93

Every now and again you come across a song that consumes your whole spirit and shakes your whole world apart. Hearing this song for the first time has probably been the most profound experience of them all.
I had to pull over while driving to collect myself. I have a broken relationship with my father, we are very close but also very distant, but this brought me to see his side of our dynamic. I broke down afterwards, but in a way that brought in light to a seemingly never ending dark hole that's been in my heart. Thank you Matt Maeson for this experience! Your music will break people down in a way that will build them up!

As a son of a father who was murdered when i was six and is now a father of a son of five i cant tell you how much your comment touched my heart. Thank you for the tears of today. Your words touched me and I`m thankful.......good luck out there, i`ll be thinking of you and your, my dad.

This song helped me too. I know my comedic profile is in bad taste for a solemn remark, but laughing away the pain has been with me for a long time. Anyway, I parted ways with my dad in particular when I was 18. My parents had me when they were older than most, so I am in my 20s and my father is in his 60s. This song had me sobbing. One of our biggest disagreements was over my obsession with motorcycles. I ride a sport bike, a desire I’ve held since 14. My dad hates motorcycles, having been an ER physician for a very long time. A few of his words stuck with me for a long time. “You do what you gotta do, I’ll buy you a nice coffin.” As I write this now and listen to this music, I was helped to realize that if I don’t do something about this, the next time we see each other is going to be his funeral or my funeral. I can’t do that to him, or myself.

This song reminds me of something you can’t seem to catch. No matter how hard you try, no matter how much you try to be better. Your just looking for relief, no matter the consequences. Trying to find that “feel good” bc there’s no returning from the pain. The space between life and death. Trying to find that feel good for just a short second, no matter what.
