Matt Corby has certainly carved a unique path for someone that started his career aged 16 on a reality TV talent show in 2007. In 2009, he independently released his debut EP 'Song For...' before relocating to London and signing with renowned UK indie label Communion after capturing the attention of the label's owner; Ben Lovett of Mumford and Sons fame.
Matt Corby’s songs and vocals elicit a sensation that is nothing short of captivating. Having previously been compared to legendary artists such as Nick Drake and Jeff Buckley, Matt’s songs continue to deliver a uniqueness and maturity well beyond his years while his live performances have become renowned for bringing large audiences to a complete stand still.
After recording with Ian Grimble (The Libertines, Seasick Steve) and releasing his hauntingly beautiful EP 'Transition To Colour' in late 2010, Matt has been busy engaging audiences with his live shows. Matt spent the earlier part of 2011 playing sold out shows in London and showcasing at SXSW in Austin, Texas in February before coming back to Australia to play a string of intimate “Secret Garden” shows in fans’ backyards. He soon after joined UK band Elbow as the main support on their national tour of sold out Splendour sideshows in July.
On 1 October 2015, Matt released his first song in two years, 'Monday' from his debut album, 'Telluric'. The song was described as containing "lush, transcendent harmonies, wailing falsetto, folky boom-claps and heartbreaking lyrics", and later voted 53 in the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2015. 'Telluric' was eventually released on 11 March 2016.
On 7 September 2018, Matt announced his 2nd studio album 'Rainbow Valley', released 2 November 2018.
Personally, Matt enjoys surfing and reading, and became a father with his first child in early 2018.

Sooth Lady Wine
Matt Corby Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In his hands, now I don't understand the free world
Get together,
Get to the same mistake
With you want tomorrow ideas
I wanna tell me if I could care
Tell me how about here
You sold me out to the man, to the man, to the man with the nuclear plant
In his hands, now I don't understand the free world
If you feel alright
Let yourself dance
Don't sit out tonight
If you feel aright
Get off your phone
Take a road tonight
If you see the light
Don't turn away
It's reality
With no fear inside
We can begin to feel the happiness
Sooth lady wine
Not in the way that I know
You and I,
One??? two??? try for something new
I want it so long to write it down for one
If you feel alright
Let yourself dance
Don't sit out tonight
If you feel aright
Get off your phone
Take a road tonight
If you see the light
Don't turn away
It's reality
With no fear inside
We can begin to feel the happiness

The lyrics of Matt Corby's "Sooth Lady Wine" initially appear to be about a betrayal: the singer has been sold out to a powerful figure, the "man with the nuclear plant." The repetition of this line emphasizes the enormity of the betrayal, as if he is incredulous that someone would go so far as to hand him over to an entity that is threatening the very fabric of the world. He further emphasizes his confusion and disillusionment by mentioning how he no longer understands the "free world." This could be interpreted as a possible commentary on the dangers of corporatism and how much it has influenced our culture.
The latter half of the song gives a message of hope in its own way. The singer implores the listener to act - to dance, take a road trip, and see the light without turning away. He speaks of a reality without fear, in which happiness can be felt. "Sooth Lady Wine" is all about getting out into the world, something that is especially poignant in these times when everyone is isolated due to the pandemic. The overarching message is that it is only by standing up for oneself and embracing life that one can truly live.

this album is going to be so diverse. Its so similar to the way Jeff Buckley composed his work in tragic, frenzied, chaos with pure raw talent and passion.
