Here comes the parade
Someday, someday
I'll spit these thoughts out
Before they stain me
Finally, they're here for me
I've been waiting now for days
The song "Parade" by Matt Nathanson is a powerful and expressive track that resonates with many listeners due to its relatable and thoughtful lyrics. The song captures the concept of unspoken thoughts that are simmering within us and how we hope to eventually voice them before they cause irreparable harm. The first verse of the song is a metaphor for this condition as it explains how the parade is on its way, and someday it will come, a reflection of the hope we hold onto that we will overcome what we are feeling. The lyrics "I'll spit these thoughts out, before they stain me" are the most significant lines in the song because they remind us of the power of communication and the fact that the longer we hold onto our thoughts, the more they consume us.
The second verse performs the vital purpose of conveying the excitement and relief that sets in after expressing these thoughts that were previously trapped within us. The lyrics "Finally, they're here for me, I've been waiting now for days, Hooray, hooray, hooray" talks about the relief we feel after voicing out our thoughts and how much of a burden the untold thoughts had on us. The song concludes with a sense of hope in knowing that we have the ability to overcome our innermost emotions when we decide to let our feelings be known.
