Mattafix released their first single "11.30 (Dirtiest Trick In Town)" as a limited edition single on Buddhist Punk Records on 31st January 2005. Their first full single, "Big City Life", released by EMI on 8th August 2005 was a considerable hit, managing a #15 peak on the official UK chart, a big feat for a UK R&B/hip-hop group, and topped the charts in Germany, Czech, Austria and other European countries. Their third single, "Passer By" was released on 24th October 2005, unfortunately missing the UK top 75. The single preceded their debut album "Signs Of A Struggle", which was released a week later on 31st October 2005.
The group have toured with the likes of Jamiroquai and Joss Stone on their UK tours. The fourth single from their debut album, "Signs Of A Struggle" was "To & Fro", which features backing vocals from former Sugababe Siobhan Donaghy. The single was released as a download only single on 13th March 2006.
Big City Life debuted at #19 on the Australian Music Charts and reached #1 on the New Zealand Singles Chart.
Signs Of A Struggle was a Triple J feature album in April 2006.
In April 2010, Marlon Roudette made a video appearance where he spoke about recording and making the record in his home-based studio. However, via Facebook, it was announced that Roudette and Hirji had gone separate ways, due to their different new ideas for future projects, which has brought abundant attention to fans. He is yet to come up with his new artist name; whether to stay with the name Mattafix, or choose a new stage name; perhaps his own. "Mattafix presents...Marlon..." was a quote from a late 2010 YouTube video, as an updated possibility for his album title and/or stage name. Marlon Roudette has confirmed that the new album is "not a radical shift but definitely different. More instrumentation and more in depth musical compositions." Marlon Roudette has stated that the album is pretty much completed, but the album is still being "fine tuned". His first solo album Matter Fixed was released on 2 September 2011. His sophomore effort Electric Soul on 8 August 2014.
Shake Your Limbs

Mek we know where we going.
Shake ya limbs to da rhythms hymns and poems.
Shake ya limbs to da rhythms hymns and poems.
Mek we know where we going.
Shake ya limbs to da rhythms hymns and poems.
Work it out.
But they dont know just how or why.
And it really seems preordained,
And my friends are far away,
And I wonder if they're ok,
And I wonder if the times have changed,
And I thought that I saw your face.
Are you safe?
Shake ya limbs to da rhythms hymns and poems.
Mek we know where we going.
Shake ya limbs to da rhythms hymns and poems.
From the beginning there was war and sinning
And it seems like nothing has changed.
Bombs are dropping on Iraq and Lebanon,
(Its like) Vietnam all over again.
Days ago a bredrin that I know,
Tell me dat he cyan tek no more.
Bombs are dropping on Iraq and Lebanon
And everywhere it seems like war.
And they say they're trying to work it out,
But they dont know just how or why.
And it really seems preordained,
And my friends are far away,
And I wonder if they're ok,
And I wonder if the times have changed,
And I thought that I saw your face.
Are you safe?
From now on I'm not fighting fair,
Its guerilla warfare,
It's been 400 years of my people's tears.
I'm like Shaka with a hungry spear,
Asilwe ke, ng'fikile ke (let's go ahead and fight, I have arrived)
Mina ng'uqhaqha 'maqiniso, uBaba ung'biza uCath'impi (I'm the truth revealer, my father calls me Fighter Instigator)
UBhambhatha Ka Manciza lo ongijoja ngomkhonto (the one who pierced me with a spear)
Once a slave and now a brave,
I got my army in the cave.
Asilwe ke, ng'fikile ke (let's go ahead and fight, I have arrived)
And they say they're trying to work it out,
But they dont know just how or why.
And it really seems preordained,
And my friends are far away,
And I wonder if they're ok,
And I wonder if the times have changed,
And I thought that I saw your face.
Are you safe?
And they say they're trying to work it out,
But they dont know just how or why.
And it really seems preordained,
And my friends are far away,
And I wonder if they're ok,
And I wonder if the times have changed,
And I thought that I saw your face.
Are you safe?
Shake ya limbs to da rhythms hymns and poems.
Mek we know where we going.
Shake ya limbs to da rhythms hymns and poems.
Shake ya limbs to da rhythms hymns and poems.
Mek we know where we going.
Shake ya limbs to da rhythms hymns and poems.
I dont wanna see you fall.
I dont wanna see you hurt at all.
See you fall.
I dont wanna see you fall.
I dont wanna see you hurt at all.
See you fall.
The lyrics in "Shake Your Limbs" by Mattafix are a call to action. The song invites the audience to join in and shake their limbs to the rhythms, hymns, and poems of the world. The underlying message of the song encourages people to find their direction, as the world is in chaos and confusion. The line "mek we know where we going" refers to the need for people to have a sense of purpose in their lives, and to not lose their way amidst the turmoil.
The song also highlights the struggle for social justice and equality. The references to war, bombing and oppression in Iraq, Lebanon, and Vietnam illustrate the persistent issue of global conflict, and the challenges for those who strive for peace. The lines "From now on I'm not fighting fair, it's guerrilla warfare" express the frustration and the urgency for change. The lyrics also reference historical figures like Shaka, the famous Zulu warrior, and Asilwe Ke, a tribal chant that translates to "let's go ahead and fight, I have arrived." These references emphasize the desire for courage, strength, and resilience to fight against oppression and to protect one's freedom.
Overall, "Shake Your Limbs" is a powerful song that encourages people to take action, find their purpose, and stand up for what they believe in.

Shake ya limbs to da rhythms hymns and poems.
Move your body to the beat of the music and words that inspire and elevate us.
Mek we know where we going.
Let's gain clarity and direction in our lives.
Work it out.
Figure out and resolve our problems and conflicts.
And they say they're trying to work it out, But they dont know just how or why.
People claim they are attempting to fix situations, but they lack understanding and direction for how and why to do so.
And it really seems preordained, And my friends are far away, And I wonder if they're ok, And I wonder if the times have changed, And I thought that I saw your face. Are you safe?
The situation feels predetermined, and I worry about my distant friends and acquaintances. I question whether the world has changed and recall seeing someone who may be in danger.
From the beginning there was war and sinning, And it seems like nothing has changed. Bombs are dropping on Iraq and Lebanon, (Its like) Vietnam all over again. Days ago a bredrin that I know, Tell me dat he cyan tek no more. Bombs are dropping on Iraq and Lebanon And everywhere it seems like war.
Throughout history, there has been a consistent pattern of war and conflict that persists even today with bombings in the Middle East. A friend recently confided that they struggle in this volatile environment.
From now on I'm not fighting fair, Its guerilla warfare, It's been 400 years of my people's tears. I'm like Shaka with a hungry spear, Asilwe ke, ng'fikile ke, Mina ng'uqhaqha 'maqiniso, uBaba ung'biza uCath'impi, UBhambhatha Ka Manciza lo ongijoja ngomkhonto, Once a slave and now a brave, I got my army in the cave.
Moving forward, I refuse to stick to the rules of engagement – it is now guerrilla warfare. My people have suffered for centuries, and I am ready to fight like Shaka with a burning passion. My father calls me the fighter instigator and humankind pierced me, but I will lead as a courageous former slave with an army in hiding.
I dont wanna see you fall, I dont wanna see you hurt at all, See you fall.
I care for you and wish to prevent harm from befalling you or anyone I care for.
