Gosh this is unbelievably clever. And Matthew Taranto has as amazing a mind for music as he does for webcomics. It was always a treat when he’d do a musical comic because it wasn’t just filler — it was a really big deal. I mean this is just terrific stuff right here, I love it.

For all of you people out there that wanted a "Your princess is in another castle" or the classic "toad joke", Let me tell you one thing...

This animation was supposed to be about Mario literally risking his life for his beloved sweetheart.

It was also meant to have a good ending. Not a stupid and overrated overused joke. Seriously, let the poor guy get his Happy Ending for once, geez, seriously people.

Phi-01 he original concept for this was that Mario is on his deathbed and asks for a 1up mushroom. As he dies, he goes back to the beginning of his life.

You know, 0:40-0:50 always gets me. I think it's the combination of the increased pace of the loop with the amazing piano buildup.

This video reminded me of everything I love about Mario. I love how you didn't just show the first level of Donkey Kong--that's what anyone would have done. Only a true Mario fanatic would include the "DK '94" levels that were made later but are still a part of "Donkey Kong". Details like that got my inner-Nintendo fan squealing and the music really put a smile on my face.Thank you for being such a talented Nintendo fanatic.

The song is "Everyday" by Carly Comando, presumably made for the video. Of all the music used, this piece got me the most sentimental due to its association of seeing years of life go by in seconds.

Now I'm going to admit this was beutiful and an amazing comic just beutiful! Still if we look at Scott Pilgrim vs. the World he gets to continue from where he ended the previous "level" which is where checkpoints come into play from the tape in SMW and the flags in NSMB and SMG2, the checkpoint pigs in DKCR, or that room your praying for it to be in Megaman.

I don't know if it's just me, but this hits a little bit harder if you've actually played through all of those games. So far, the only game on there I haven't gotten to yet is Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (ironically, the first game in this timeline). As for the others, I did get through Donkey Kong (arcade and several ports), Mario Bros. (arcade and several ports), and Super Mario Bros. (NES and its ports/remaster/remake). I finished Donkey Kong (Game Boy) recently.
