Astounding for so many reasons—one of them being some metaphysical sense of pulse and also tightly controlled lyricism

Just for time to Schubert's birthday, perfect.

Thank you! What a privilege this is for us, 60 years later. Very grateful to you, incontrario motu.

Don Arturo Vito Santi Corleone-Schnabel

Thank you incontrario motu for sharing this ethereal and immortal reading

I read the comments while I listen to this piece for the first time. I think of my hitherto favorite sonata in G major, which I had been listening to daily for the last two months, and I am contemplating Gould’s praise for Richter’s mastery in maintaining the intensity at the maximum in the G major. In this piece at hand, the varying tempi give Richter the opportunity to further exploit his ability to utilize this “intensity” in order to keep us anxious for where this unexpected combination of moods will lead us to eventually.

Luden

In general the mood is similar to Liszt's oratorio Christ
