Seen you fall out of love
I've seen you get high coming down
Getting high is (?)
I wanna be there for you, but I don't know how
My heart is in my foot
I can't be around
But you and I both know it's not that easy
You could have it all, have it all
If you wanted to
But you stuck yourself in a world that doesn't care for you
Heard a lotta things about you that I can't believe
They tell me all about the sides of you
That I haven't seen
I wanna be there for you, but you let me down
I start to speak but then I choke
Whenever you come around
I just wanna say, wanna say really what I mean
But you and I both know it's not that easy
You could have it all, have it all
If you wanted to
But you stuck yourself in a world that doesn't care for you
Na na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na
I just wanna say, wanna say really what I mean
But you and I both know it's not that easy
You could have it all, have it all
If you wanted to
But you stuck yourself in a world that doesn't care for you
Stuck yourself in a world that doesn't care about you
Max Jury's song "Grace" is a heartfelt representation of a relationship that is strained, yet the singer still wants to be there for the other person. The opening lines show the singer's awareness of the other person's life, watching them grow up and fall out of love as well as dealing with substance abuse issues. Even though the singer wants to help, their heart is in their foot indicating the difficulty in being there for the other person. It's clear that the two have a history, and the singer struggles to express themselves to the other person. The second verse details how the singer has heard things about the other person that they can't believe, and they feel let down by them. Whenever the other person comes around, the singer tries to speak, but they can't seem to find the right words.
Despite the difficulties in the relationship, the chorus expresses that the other person could have it all if they wanted to, but they are stuck in a world that doesn't care for them. The repeated lines at the end of the song highlight the finality of the situation, emphasizing that the other person has backed themselves into a corner and is trapped by their circumstances.
Overall, "Grace" is a poignant song that touches on themes of addiction, disappointment, and lost potential. Despite the singer's desire to help and support the other person, they seem to be stuck in a destructive cycle that they can't break out of.
