Killing Time
Max Jury Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When you were innocent
And inarticulate
Because now you know too much
I am still too naive
To believe that this love
Could never rust
I thought our hearts were sewn together
By the grudges I ignored
Against the tide I must weather
Because I cannot afford to lose
Because I'm just killing time
Because I'm just killing time
Because I'm just killing time
For you
You
My youth is fleeting
And my heart is beating for
Traces of a beauty I once knew
'Cause I'm a stranger
Who eyes the beat
Faded and erased
From you
Because I'm just killing time
Because I'm just killing time
Because I'm just killing time
Because I'm just killing time
Because I'm just killing time
Because I'm just killing time
Because I'm just killing time
Because I'm just killing time
Because I'm just killing time
Baby I'm just killing time
Because I'm just killing time
The song "Killing Time" by Max Jury is a melancholic ballad that reflects on lost innocence and failed love. The opening lines, "I liked you the best when you were innocent and inarticulate because now you know too much," set the tone for the rest of the song. The singer longs for a simpler time when love was pure, and their partner was more naive.
Throughout the song, the singer admits their own naivete, pointing out that they still believe their love could last despite knowing it's not realistic. They reference the "grudges" they ignored to keep their love alive, suggesting that there were underlying issues they refused to confront. The line "Against the tide I must weather because I cannot afford to lose" speaks to the desperation one feels when trying to hold onto something that's slipping away.
The final lines, "Cause I'm a stranger who eyes the beat, faded and erased from you," indicate that the relationship has ended, and the singer is left feeling like a stranger to their former lover. The repetition of "Because I'm just killing time" highlights the singer's sense of aimlessness and futility.
Overall, "Killing Time" is a poignant reflection on lost love and the longing for a simpler time. The lyrics are introspective and introspective, painting a vivid picture of heartbreak and nostalgia.

Unfunny
I remember hearing a slightly different version of this and Change You Mind For Me on an EP by some kid I heard years ago. Was that you? Such a small world lol. In that case, why can't I find it anywhere now? I really loved the opening track off it too, but I guess it never got re-recorded
