Der Raum ist leer und kalt.
Schon tragen mich die alten Träume fort.
Da lauf ich durch die Straßen,
Treff immer wieder sie
In der Croissanterie,
C’est la vie.
Ein glühender Funke sprang,
Die kurze Zeit war Ewigkeit.
Ich denk an ihre Augen,
Die nicht vergehen,
Und was sie jetzt wohl sehen,
Oder wen?
Oh, sie nahm Abschied
Und zog weiter,
Als ich schlief.
Bei mir blieben
All die Geister,
All die Geister,
Die sie rief.
Sie ließ mich alleine
Mit den Geistern,
Die sie rief.
Erst wenn ich wach bin
Und sie fort sind,
Fall ich, fall ich tief.
The lyrics of Max Prosa's song C'est la vie delve into the themes of lost love, memories, and the haunting feeling of being left behind. The song begins with the singer waking up to an empty and cold room, seeking solace and stability. However, he is transported to a different time and place through his old dreams, wandering the streets and finding himself back in the croissanterie - a place where he used to meet his lover. The phrase "C'est la vie," meaning "that's life" in French, serves as a reminder that life goes on and there is nothing one can do to change the past.
The second verse continues to reminisce about the singer's past relationship, describing how it started like a spark and for a brief time felt like eternity. He recalls her eyes, which he will always remember, and wonders what she is doing now or who she might be with. The chorus repeats the themes of being left behind and haunted by memories and ghosts of the past. The third verse explores the moment when they slept together in Tel Aviv, and the singer felt a sense of freedom until he realized that they never really talked about the future. The final lines of the song suggest that the singer only finds peace when he wakes up and the memory of his lover fades away, but until then, he will continue to fall and be pulled down by the ghosts of their past relationship.
Overall, Max Prosa's lyrics in C'est la vie capture the sadness and longing of a failed romance, where the singer is left with nothing but memories and a sense of emptiness. The song evokes a feeling of nostalgia and highlights the way that memories can be both beautiful and painful at the same time.

Ich öffne meine Augen und suche Halt,
As I open my eyes, I'm looking for something to cling onto,

The room is empty and cold.
Schon tragen mich die alten Träume fort.
My old dreams are already carrying me away.
Da lauf ich durch die Straßen,
Then I run through the streets,
Treff immer wieder sie
And keep meeting her again
In der Croissanterie,
At the croissanterie,
C’est la vie.
That's life.
Es ist genau wie damals, als es begann,
It's exactly like it was in the beginning,
Ein glühender Funke sprang,
A glowing spark ignited,
Die kurze Zeit war Ewigkeit.
The short time was eternity.
Ich denk an ihre Augen,
I'm thinking about her eyes,
Die nicht vergehen,
Which never disappear,

Oh, sie nahm Abschied
Oh, she said goodbye

Der Abschied bringt das Glück über die Zeit.
Saying goodbye brings happiness over time.

I'm lying in my room,

A door slams shut,
Ich finde keine Ruh'.
I can't find peace of mind.
Oh, sie nahm Abschied
Oh, she said goodbye
Und zog weiter,
And moved on,

Do I fall, do I fall deep.

traurig aber doch so schön.. denn: (ich zitiere jetzt mal Sven Regener) "Das Tolle an der Musik ist, dass das Traurige schön ist. Im Leben macht das Traurige nicht glücklich - in der Musik schon." ...wie wahr
