<… Read Full Bio ↴The latest smooth jazz vocalist to hit the scene is Maxine Hardcastle.
Yes, she is the daughter of British smooth jazz composer Paul Hardcastle. Maxine sings and has co-writing credits on three song on Hardcastle 4. They are “Smooth Jazz Is Bumpin'," “Was It Love” and “Where Are You Now.” Maxine is co-writing and performing on tracks with 'Nate Harasim' winner of the up and coming smooth jazz producer award in the United states.
The budding young singer's voice is a real treat, and recalls frequent Hardcastle collaborator Helen Rogers (Rogers will be back on the next Jazzmasters' CD). Maxine was the inspiration for an old Hardcastle song called "Maxine," and she also had a spoken-word monologue throughout a song called "Look to the Future" from the Hardcastle 2 album released in 1996.
Ironically, Maxine turned 19 years old in April 2006. You may recall that Hardcastle had a worldwide dance smash back in 1985 with the song “19,” which used spoken-word reports from Vietnam throughout the song that described the average age of American combatants as 19.
"It’s the first time that she’s actually done something really popular in the studio, and she really likes this type of music," says Paul Hardcastle. "Her songwriting’s getting very, very good at the moment, and I think she’s got a great future ahead of her."
We agree.
Maxine is no stranger to the modern world of dance music. Her tracks, signed by Hed Kand and The Ministry of sound features on albums distributed world wide. Maxine's songs, 'It's Gunna Happen' , 'Another Chance' (which has several remixes including one by Richard Earnshaw) 'Walking With A Smile' and 'Bringing me Back' (remix by Mr.Vavoski ) appear on Beach House albums from 2007 to 2010, Kandi Lounge, Summer Samplers, Live Verbier and Stereo Sushi to name a few. 'Walking with a Smile' has recently been remixed by the talented 'Control-s' who have transformed the track into a Garage hit which is currently played on Kiss 100 by DJ EZ and also supported by The Artful Dodger on Time FM. The track will be released on' The Ministry of Sounds', 'Addicted to Bass line' album.
Maxine can be found in clubs world wide, DJing to loyal house music followers. New blood to the DJ scene maybe but she is already making her mark. Having touched her first decks just half a year ago, she has since played on tour for 'Pink poison' in Lithuania, the Maldives, Dreamers Marbella, Dance crusade festival, Mac Store Regent street, Egg London, Pacha and The national polo championships 'Sandbanks Rocks' alongside Dane Bowers, Brandon Block and Kiss 100 DJ Charlie Hedges.

Dreamin its raining for me out side for me, its raining out side for me
Dreamin its raining out side for me, yer its raining out side for me
Desire is pulling me in, desire is pulling me in
Dreamin its raining out side for me, its raining out side for me
Dreamin its raining out side for me, yer its raining out side for me
The lyrics of Maxine Hardcastle's song Dreamin explore the theme of desire and its impact on a person's thoughts and perceptions. The song begins with the singer feeling as though they are being pulled in by an external, uncontrollable force that is causing everyone around them to suffocate. The line "excuse me I'm not concentrating for the for front of my mind" suggests that this desire is distracting the singer from their current environment and thoughts.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Dreamin it's raining outside for me" four times, emphasizing the singer's desire as a constant presence. The use of rain as a metaphor could signify the singer's desire as something that can be both refreshing and destructive, much like how rain can bring life or cause flooding and destruction.
Overall, the lyrics of Dreamin by Maxine Hardcastle are open to interpretation but seems to be about the struggle with uncontrollable desires and how they can consume a person's thoughts and perceptions.
