Never Mind The Signs
May Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Once I laughed when I heard you saying
That I'd be playing solitaire
Uneasy in my easy chair
It never entered my mind

And once you told me I was mistaken
That I'd awaken with the sun
And ordered orange juice for one
It never entered my mind
You had what I lack, myself
Now I even have to scratch my back myself

Once you warned me that if you scorned me
I'd say a lonely prayer again
And wish that you were there again
To get into my hair again
It never entered my mind

Once you warned me that if you scorned me
I'd say a lonely prayer again
And wish that you were there again

To get into my hair again
It never entered my mind

Overall Meaning

In May's song "Never Mind The Signs", the lyrics portray a relationship where one person once laughed at the idea of being alone, but now finds themselves in that very situation. The first verse sets the scene of the singer being comfortable in their "easy chair" and playing solitaire, but then realizing they are alone and uneasy. The second verse speaks of being warned about the potential pain from a failed relationship, yet the singer never thought it would actually happen to them. The repetition of the final verse emphasizes the fact that the idea of being alone never even crossed their mind until it became a reality.

The song seems to be a reflection on the unexpected feelings and emotions that can arise after the end of a relationship. The singer is coming to terms with being alone and how it feels like a strange new experience. The lyrics suggest that they once took their partner for granted and never imagined themselves without them. Now they must learn to deal with the pain of being alone.

Overall, May's "Never Mind The Signs" lyrics provide an introspective look at the emotions that come with a breakup. The reminders of what was lost can be painful but the song suggests that through reflection and self-acceptance, one can find peace and come to terms with their new reality.

The lyrics are actually: "Street sounds swirling through my mind". The original song is from the band called Chicago and it's called "Street player" from 1979

Still vibing to this in 2024. 1995 stands out as the pinnacle year for music, in my opinion. The era spanning from 1992 to 1997 delivered an abundance of musical gold, with DJs showcasing real talent. It's a shame for those who didn't experience it firsthand because it was truly a glorious time.

And they did all this on hardware samplers and drum machines not like today where you can do everything with just a few clicks of the mouse on a lap top,,,,it was more difficult/more like 🎨 art.
