Born and brought up in the Democratic Republic of the Congo M'bilia Bel became successful in the mid-1980s when she recorded and toured with Tabu Ley Rochereau, and made her own solo albums. The birth of her first child prompted her to take a break from performing, however, and after a last album with Ley in 1987, she moved to Paris. There she started working with guitarist Rigo Star, and between 1989 and 1990 she went on to tour the United States, the United Kingdom, and West Africa.
She has released 4 albums since 1990. M'bilia continues to wear her crown as Queen of Congolese rumba.

Tena ni mwangaza ya dunia
Jua, maji, mwezi, nyota, upepo na udongo
Ni uzima wa binadamu
Nadina yooo Nadina yoyo
Nadina yooo Nadina yoyo
Tuombe mungu baba yoyo
Hata uko mwenye dhambi rudisha roho nyuma
Hata we ni wa shetani jua yuu lalikuumba
Tumsifu mungu baba ee ee
Hata mara moja ujuma
Hata uko mwenye dhambi rudisha roho nyuma
Hata we ni wa shetani jua yuu lalikuumba
Tumsifu mungu baba ee ee
Hata mara moja ujuma
Samaki nyama,
Majani vidudu au dege
Ni uzima wa binadamu
Vinyanga udongo
Kuchoma majani
Au vyote unapenda ee
Havi semiki
Vinyanga udongo
Kuchoma majani
Au vyote unapenda ee
Havi semiki
Nadina yooo Nadina yoyo

Tuombe mungu baba yoyo
Atuhurumie dhambi zetu mama

The song "Nadina" by Mbilia Bel emphasizes the importance of different elements in human life. The first stanza highlights the significance of the sun, water, moon, stars, wind, and soil, stating that they make up human existence. The chorus urges people to pray to God for mercy and forgiveness of their sins. The second stanza asks those who have sinned to turn their backs on their wrongdoings and to acknowledge that even if they are children of the devil, they were still created by God. Mbilia Bel then praises God and encourages everyone to turn back to Him. The third stanza puts forward the idea that what people eat and enjoy is also essential to their lives, but the truly important thing is their soul.
The repetition of "Nadina yo Nadina mama" in the chorus is both catchy and memorable. It is also worth noting that the song incorporates the Swahili language with a Lingala melody. Bel's smooth, soulful voice and the upbeat tempo of the song add to its overall appeal. Mbilia Bel is a Congolese singer, and "Nadina" is one of her most successful songs, well-known across Africa and beyond.
