They are managed by Prestige Management, and were signed to the Island Records label from their launch (2004) until December 2007, before creating their own label, Super Records. McFly is also the youngest band ever to have an album debut at #1.
McFly appeared in the teen comedy film Just My Luck, starring Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine, in 2006. The band played themselves in the film and released a US album, Just My Luck, which was also used as the film's soundtrack.

To make you cry
Can I say I'm sorry
It's hard to forget
And yes I regret
All these mistakes
But I know you must have your reasons
There's tears in your eyes
I watch as you cry
But it's getting late
Was I invading in on your secrets
Was I too close for comfort
You're pushing me out
When I wanted in
What was I just about to discover
When I got too close for comfort
Driving you home
Guess I'll never know
Remember when we scratched our names into the sand
And told me you loved me
But now that I find
That you've changed your mind
I'm lost for words
And everything I feel for you
I wrote down on one piece of paper
The one in your hand
You won't understand
How much it hurts to let you go
Was I invading in on your secrets
Was I too close for comfort
You're pushing me out
When I wanted in
What was I just about to discover
I got too close for comfort
Driving you home
Guess I'll never know
All this time you've been telling me lies
Hidden in bags that are under your eyes
And when I asked you I knew I was right
But if you turn your back on me now
When I need you most
But you chose to let me down
Won't you think about what you're about to do to me
And back down
Was I invading in on your secrets
Was I too close for comfort
You're pushing me out
When I wanted in
What was I just about to discover
I got too close for comfort
You're pushing me out
When I'm wanting in
(Yeah yeah yeah)
What was I just about to discover
When I got too close for comfort
Driving you home
I guess I'll never know
The song "One for the Radio" by McFly can be interpreted as a heartfelt apology from the singer to his lover for saying hurtful things that made her cry. The lyrics suggest that the singer regrets his mistakes and does not know why his lover is leaving him, although he respects her decision. The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Was I invading in on your secrets? / Was I too close for comfort?" implying that the singer's actions may have caused a rift in the relationship. The line "But now that I find that you've changed your mind, I'm lost for words" emphasizes the singer's shock and confusion at his lover's decision to leave him.
The verse "All this time you've been telling me lies / Hidden in bags that are under your eyes / And when I asked you I knew I was right" suggests that there may have been underlying issues in the relationship that were never addressed. This could add to the singer's feelings of regret and confusion about the breakup. The bridge of the song includes a plea from the singer for his lover to reconsider her decision to leave him.
Overall, the song "One for the Radio" by McFly artfully captures the emotional complexity of a relationship in crisis, as the singer expresses remorse, confusion, and desperation.

What was I just about to discover
What was the truth that you were hiding
I guess I'll never know
I'll never find out
