Crying
McLean Don Lyrics

But when I saw you last night, you held my hand so tight
When you stopped to say "Hello"
And though you wished me well, you couldn't tell
That I'd been crying over you, crying over you
Then you said "so long" left me standing all alone
Alone and crying, crying, crying crying
Can start me crying
I thought that I was over you but it's tru-ue, so true
I love you even more than I did before but darling what can I do
For you don't love me and I'll always be
Crying over you, crying over you
Yes, now you're gone and from this moment on
I'll be crying, crying, crying, crying
Yeah crying, crying, over you
The lyrics of McLean Don's song "Crying" express the pain of unrequited love. The opening lines suggest that the singer had begun to move on from their lover, as they were "all right for a while." However, when they saw their ex-lover holding their hand so tightly and saying hello, the singer's emotions overwhelm them, and they realize that they have been crying over their lost love. The gentle touch of the ex-lover's hand starts the singer crying uncontrollably, admitting that they thought they were "over" their former flame, only to learn that they still love them even more than they did before.
The second verse again reiterates that the singer still loves their ex-lover and is heartbroken that the feeling is not mutual. They know that they will always be crying over their love, despite the pain it brings. The chorus serves as a refrain, expressing the singer's inability to stop crying over their lost love, even though the person has now left them completely alone.
Ultimately, "Crying" is a poignant expression of the pain of unrequited love, which can continue to haunt and hurt us long after a relationship has ended.

Back in June 1980 in a night club I heard this song play and I happened to see this gorgeous lady on the other side of the dance floor. I plucked up the courage and asked her to dance and to my disbelief she said yes. It was the most magical moment in my life to even think this lady would dance with me. Almost 42 years later and I still pinch myself every morning when I wake to realise this class act has stuck with me all these years.

It's one thing to do a great studio version of this song, but to nail it in a live performance is a real achievement. Fantastic talent.
