Glacier
McMorrow James Vincent Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Someone here's a lie, somewhere underneath
Caught between the railing, mirroring the beat
I no longer feel and the years asleep
Show no sense of hope, staring honestly

I wanna go south of the river
Glacier slow in the heart of the winter
I wanna go south of the river, facing alone in the heart of the winter

And this we'll celebrate, this we'll celebrate
There and on the stage, this is a mistake
Damn me off too long, down the earth and moon
Damn the clawing kneeling, rustling into change
In a moment I was caught, calling by a storm
In the moment of a hot

I wanna go south of the river
Glacier slow in the heart of the winter
I wanna go south of the river, facing alone in the heart of the winter

I'm not in a glove called how

Few became, few became as glory as along
Against the forest state and starting living in the new
Harrow since, harrow since the farthest
Reach underneath inside a cheat
Something is alive, somewhere underneath
Caught between the real and the fake
I don't want to fit, there and has been found
Silence is so cold, and there's no sense at all
And I was someone else, I was something good
Barely in the old, there among the cold

I wanna go south of the river

Glacier slow in the heart of the winter
I wanna go south of the river, facing alone in the heart of the winter

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to James Vincent McMorrow's song, "Glacier," are full of enigmatic phrases and poetic imagery. The song appears to be about a search for something deeper, a longing that is not fully expressible in words. The first few lines discuss the sensation of being caught between two opposing forces and feeling disconnected from reality. The singer suggests that there is a lie somewhere beneath the surface of things, and that they are struggling to find their place in the world.

The chorus introduces the idea of going "south of the river," an imagery of getting away from the noise and chaos of the city. The singer seeks the quiet stillness of nature, symbolized by the slow-moving glacier in the heart of winter. There is a sense of loneliness and isolation in this desire, but also a sense of quiet determination.

The second verse is more abstract in meaning, using phrases that are difficult to decipher. There is talk of celebrating something, possibly an achievement, but it seems like a mistake. The singer is conflicted between wanting to be grounded and wanting to change and grow. The final lines return to the idea of something living underneath the surface of things, but it is unclear what this means.

All in all, "Glacier" is a song full of longing and searching. The singer is looking for something deeper, but is unsure of what that thing is or how to find it. The imagery of the river, the glacier, and the forest all suggest a kind of natural purity that is lacking in the human world.

Man or Woman, in one way or another we all walk down that lonely road.

You see the scares in her life, whether she has done good or bad.

Loneliness is a soul destroying thing.

Everyone deserves to be loved.

James Vincent Mcmorrow singing to this video is a perfect combination.

Milo everyone.

@elizabethbach5421

I remember being on a plane in August, 2016, when there was a fire in the cockpit, and we had to turn back and land in Dublin. And, afterwards, none of my classmates or supposed "friends" cared whether I had lived or died. Talk about loneliness, been there, done that. Grateful that I have a boyfriend now. The End.

Christ I have never heard something so profound in a long time
