After many years of touring, the band began to accumulate a large fanbase. It was around this time, in 2005, that original bassist Blair Roberts quit to pursue a family. He was replaced by Dylan Johnstone(formerly of Yorkton, SK hardcore group Statement of Service). They remained a 3-piece until mid 2006 when Todd joined so Dylan could switch to lead vocals. This era of the band saw them switch to a straight up Metalcore sound ispired by Shai Hulud and Misery Signals. The group toured in the US and Canada constantly, and was featured in the June 2007 issue of Alternative Press magazine as well as multiple other publications. Their 2007 album, Sending You Strength, was released in the US on Facedown Record.
Their latest record, To Keep Me From Sinking, was well received and let this band drop of the scene gracefully and happily after this final album
Means disbanded after a series of farewell shows in select Canadian cities as well as a few US cities.
They played their final show to a sold-out crowd at the Riddell Centre in the University of Regina on November 28, 2008. If you want to hear the new band that the lead singer is in, check out the band Continuance
Breaking In
Means Lyrics

Don't give up on me
Just one day
Just one day before
Before the strike of the match
Don't lose heart
We're not giving in
On the very eve of new worlds
I can see over the top of the city
Light is breaking in
And to my tired eyes it just might be enough
To keep me looking ahead
We're not letting this go
So resist
Could there be another way for us?
Could there be any other way?
So what can I grasp when everything has passed?
When I see all things are sinking...slipping away
I can see over the top of the city
Light is breaking in
To my tired eyes it just might be enough
To keep me looking ahead
The seed has grown
And like a shard of glass it is digging in
We can't give in
Just one day before
Or see what awaits without...
Breaking down the door
The lyrics of Means's song Breaking In are about perseverance and not giving up even when things seem impossible. The first stanza talks about standing at the door and knocking, which could signify knocking on the door of opportunity or success. The singer then pleads to not give up on them, reminding the listener to keep going even if it's just for one more day before the strike of the match, which could signify a moment of decision or a turning point. The song encourages listeners to not lose heart and not give in, especially on the eve of new worlds, which could signify the brink of something great. The singer reminds us that the moment before the first light comes breaking in is the most crucial.
The second stanza talks about the view from the top of the city, where the light is breaking in. To the singer's tired eyes, this light could be enough to keep looking ahead, which could signify hope. The song reiterates that they are not letting go and resisting, wondering if there could be another way, which could signify a search for alternatives. The question of whether there could be any other way is a reminder to keep thinking beyond the obvious. The last line talks about seeing things slipping away, which could signify fear, but also about not giving in even in the face of fear.
