After the commercial success of Bat Out of Hell and Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell, and earning a Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for the song "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)", Meat Loaf nevertheless experienced some difficulty establishing a steady career within the United States. The key to this success was his popularity in Europe, especially in the United Kingdom and Ireland. He received the 1994 Brit Award in the United Kingdom for best-selling album and single. He appeared in the 1997 film Spice World and he ranked 23rd for the number of weeks spent on the UK charts in 2006. He ranks 96th on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock". Meat Loaf appeared in over 50 films and television shows, sometimes as himself or as characters resembling his stage persona. His film roles include Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) and Robert Paulsen in Fight Club (1999). His early stage work included dual roles in the original Broadway cast of The Rocky Horror Show. He also appeared in the musical Hair, both on and Off-Broadway.

And the very first moment I kissed you, I knew our joy would last so long
And then I saw you making love to my best friend, I didn't know whatever to say
I saw you making love to my best friend
So I looked him right in his eyes and I said - listen boy
[Chorus:]
And don't mind me, I won't throw you no curves
Have yourself a ball with my good woman
Won't you take some more boy, it's more than you deserve
Won't you take some more boy, it's more than you deserve
When I saw you hanging round the truck stop, shining like an angel in the night
And when I saw you crying like a baby, I knew you'd have to be my wife
Then I saw you making love to my best friend, I didn't know whatever to say
I saw you making love to my best friend
So I looked him right in his eyes and I said - listen boy
Now I think I'm gonna have to leave you
Because I'm feeling much too weak to share
And the pie, oh it's cut in too many pieces
The flavor that I crave is no longer there
Then I saw you making love to two of my best friends
I didn't know whatever to say
I saw you making love to a group of my best friends
So I looked them right in their eyes and I said - listen here, group
Won't you take some more boys, it's more than you deserve
The song "More Than You Deserve" by Meat Loaf is a sad tale about a man who falls in love with a woman, only to find out that she is cheating on him with his best friend. Despite the heartbreak, he can't let go of her and allows her to continue her affairs. He becomes so weak and broken that he can no longer share her, and he ultimately catches her with a group of his best friends.
The first verses of the song describe the singer's deep love for the woman and his belief that their love is strong and lasting. However, this belief is shattered when he catches her with his best friend. Meat Loaf sings about the pain and confusion he felt when he saw his love making love to someone else. Despite this, he can't let go of her and instead allows her to continue her affairs, telling the other men to take as much as they want because it's more than they deserve.
As the song progresses, the singer becomes increasingly weak and unable to cope with the pain. He even catches the woman with an entire group of his friends and is still unable to break free from her grasp. The song's lyrics are a heartbreaking depiction of a man who is unable to let go of an unhealthy relationship, no matter how much it hurts him.
