After the commercial success of Bat Out of Hell and Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell, and earning a Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for the song "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)", Meat Loaf nevertheless experienced some difficulty establishing a steady career within the United States. The key to this success was his popularity in Europe, especially in the United Kingdom and Ireland. He received the 1994 Brit Award in the United Kingdom for best-selling album and single. He appeared in the 1997 film Spice World and he ranked 23rd for the number of weeks spent on the UK charts in 2006. He ranks 96th on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock". Meat Loaf appeared in over 50 films and television shows, sometimes as himself or as characters resembling his stage persona. His film roles include Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) and Robert Paulsen in Fight Club (1999). His early stage work included dual roles in the original Broadway cast of The Rocky Horror Show. He also appeared in the musical Hair, both on and Off-Broadway.

Don't You Look At Me Like That
Meat Loaf Lyrics

Like a little girl I once knew
Walkin' to the window, lookin' down on the street
You walk with me, and I walk with you
Well I thought it all over, it doesn't make any sense
Why did it fall apart, when it seemed so innocent?
You and I were like a light from a fallen star
[Chorus]
Don't you look at me like that, 'cause I fall all over again
And I just can't hold on to your love anymore
Don't you look at me like that, 'cause I start all over again
And it just can't be, like it was once before
Don't stand there in the rain, lookin' like some long lost angel
You and I were like a light from a fallen star
You can't go back, you can't run away from your heart
Don't stand there in the rain, lookin' like some long lost angel
(No, I never could turn away from you)
[Chorus]
The lyrics of Meat Loaf's song Don't You Look At Me Like That convey the feelings of a person who struggles to move on from a failed relationship. The song is an emotional reminiscence of the moments and memories that the singer had shared with his lover. The artist describes how he dreams of his lover waking up, walking towards the window and looking down at the street, reminiscing of the good times they had together. However, the artist acknowledges that he tried to make sense of the relationship's fall apart, but the reasons for the breakdown of the once-innocent relationship remain unknown. He compares their love to a light from a fallen star that is impossible to capture or recreate. The chorus of the song emphasizes how the artist falls for his lover again, but he recognizes that their love can never be the same, and he cannot hold on to it anymore.

Just listening to this on headphones, about 20 years after I first heard it on CD. Still a great rock and roll album; this track especially is superb. Thanks for the uploads!
