Midnight At The Lost And Found
Meat Loaf Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey Ricky, now mine is empty
How about one for you
We could sell it out together
Seems tomorrow's overdue

Captain video, done went home
One pilot laid to rest
And dragon ladies talk that talk
About who loves who, who loves best

Silver bullets in the jukebox
Spin another round
Everybody at the back of the line
It's midnight at the lost and found

Midnight at the lost and found
Lost souls in the hunting ground
A remedy for all your ills
At the lost and found

Midnight at the lost and found
Midnight

Have a double, it's gettin' late
You'll get home, just rely on fate
Place just finally came alive
Good old boys just arrived

Stools keep changin' faces
And the night just slips away
And like a long distance love affair
Soon you've got to pay

Silver bullets in the jukebox
Spin another round
Everybody at the back of the line
It's midnight at the lost and found

Midnight at the lost and found
Lost souls in the hunting ground
A remedy for all your ills
At the lost and found

Midnight at the lost and found
Midnight

Hangin' on barely, hitch a ride away
Belly up and bury, boy, all the hurt you feel today

Hangin' on barely, hitch a ride away
Belly up and bury, boy, all the hurt you feel today

Silver bullets in the jukebox
Spin another round
Everybody get back in line
Last call for the lost and found

Midnight at the lost and found
Lost souls in the hunting ground
A remedy for all your ills
At the lost and found

Midnight at the lost and found
Lost souls in the hunting ground
A remedy for all your ills
At the lost and found

Midnight at the lost and found
Lost souls in the hunting ground
A remedy for all your ills
At the lost and found

Midnight at the lost and found
Lost souls in the hunting ground
A remedy for all your ills
At the lost and found

Midnight (at the lost and found)
Midnight (at the lost and found)
Midnight (at the lost and found)
Midnight (at the lost and found)
Midnight (at the lost and found)
Midnight (at the lost and found)

Midnight (at the lost and found)

Overall Meaning

"Midnight at the Lost and Found" is a song by American musician Meat Loaf, which was released in 1983 as the lead single from his album of the same name. The song was written by Meat Loaf, Jim Steinman, and Sean Casey. The lyrics describe a night scene where people go to "the lost and found" to find companionship, solace, and a remedy for their ills. The singer, Ricky, and the singer who is singing, find themselves in a situation where they need someone to be with, after all the good times have gone. They are not necessarily looking for love but for human interaction that will lead to comfort and healing.

The song draws on classic rock and roll themes, such as the bar as a place of refuge, the intoxication of alcohol and cigarettes, and the search for something elusive. The song also has a feeling of nostalgia and lamentation. The Silver Bullets in the Jukebox refers to music being played at the bar while people try to escape their pain. The lost and found mentioned in the title and lyrics represents a place where people feel they can regain what they have lost. The song suggests that the characters have been searching for something meaningful and that they finally find it at the lost and found.

Meat Loaf's "Midnight at the Lost and Found" has a driving rock beat and fiery guitar solos with the singer’s signature theatrical vocals. The song was not a big commercial success compared to his earlier hits, but has since become a cult favorite among his fans. The song was famously covered by The Darkness in 2003.

I agree completely. I was a kid when it came out. I am a Meat fan since birth (1976) when the only 8-track my mother or her twin sister had in the cars they drove was Bat. At 5 I wanted to learn how to play guitar because I wanted to make my guitar sound like a motorcycle. My sister had Dead Ringer on LP. I dubbed it and played it non-stop. Then I found out Meat had other albums (when I was 12 or 13). I called record stores from LI to Manhatten looking for them. I got Stony and Meat Loaf and Midnight. I had to mow several lawns for them. Midnight has a stamp on it that said it was CBS promotional release ony. I loved the album and really fell in love with "Keep Driving".

I got to meet Meat when I was 15. I drew a picture of Dead Ringer in art class. My teacher gave me a 99 because she said nothing can be perfect. My cousins and I broke into his dressing room. He took a look at the picture and turned it over. He asked about the 99 and I told him what my art teacher said. He signed the drawing and said, "I want you to tell your teacher that Meat Loaf said it's perfect."

We took pictures and I said, "You don't know how much this means to me." He hugged me and replied, "No. You don't know how much it means to ME."

I asked him to play "Keep Driving" and he did. It was durig his "Million Dollar Request". I apparently paid him a million dollars to play it.

Meat is the best in the world and gives the best hugs (from thqat day and from seeing him a couple times after).
