Woo, woo, woo, woo
You can't run away forever
But there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start
You want to shut out the night
You want to shut down the sun
You want to shut away the pieces of a broken heart
Think of how we'd lay down together
We'd be listening to the radio, so loud and so strong
Every golden nugget coming like a gift of the gods
Someone must have blessed us when he gave us those songs
I treasure your love
I never want to lose it
You've been through the fires of hell
And I know you've got the ashes to prove it
I treasure your love
I want to show you how to use it
You've been through a lot of pain in the dirt
And I know you've got the scars to prove it (prove it)
Remember everything that I told you
And I'm telling you again that it's true
When you're alone and afraid
And you're completely amazed
To find there's nothing anybody can do
Keep on believing
And you'll discover, baby
There's always something magic (there's always something magic)
There's always something new (new)
And when you really, really need it the most
That's when rock and roll dreams come through
The beat is yours forever (The beat is yours forever)
The beat is always true (true)
And when you really, really need it the most
That's when rock and roll dreams come through for you
Once upon a time was a backbeat
Once upon a time all the chords came to life
And the angels had guitars even before they had wings
If you hold onto a chorus, you can get through the night
(Get through the night)
I treasure your love
I never want to lose it
And you've been through the fires of hell
And I know you've got the ashes to prove it
I treasure you love
I want to show you how to use it
You've been through a lot of pain in the dirt
And I know you've got the scars to prove it (prove it)
Remember everything that I told you
And I'm telling you again that it's true
You're never alone 'cause you can put on the phones
And let the drummer tell your heart what to do
Keep on believing
And you'll discover, baby
There's always something magic (there's always something magic)
There's always something new (new)
And when you really, really need it the most
That's when rock and roll dreams come through
The beat is yours forever (the beat is yours forever)
The beat is always true (true)
And when you really, really need it the most
That's when rock and roll dreams come through
Oh, for you, yeah, yeah
(The beat is yours forever, that's when rock and roll dreams come through)
(The beat is yours forever, that's when rock and roll dreams come through)
(The beat is yours forever, that's when rock and roll dreams come through)
(The beat is yours forever, that's when rock and roll dreams come through)
(The beat is yours forever, that's when rock and roll dreams come through)
(The beat is yours forever, that's when rock and roll dreams come through)
The song "Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through" by Meat Loaf is a passionate ode about the power of music and love to transcend life's difficulties. The lyrics speak to an individual in distress, who seeks solace in the beat of rock and roll. The opening lines of the song suggest that one cannot run away forever from their problems or concerns in life, but there is something to be said about getting a head start. The singer then tells the listener that they want to “shut out the night, shut down the sun, and shut away the pieces of a broken heart.”
The song then shifts its focus to the power of music, particularly rock and roll, to help alleviate the listener's pain. The singer vividly describes how he and the listener would “lay down together” while listening to the radio so loud that every golden nugget of sound was like a gift from the gods. The singer then speaks about their deep love, acknowledging that the listener has been through the fires of hell and has scars to prove it. Still, the singer treasures their love and wants to show the listener how to use it.
The song's message is clear: when life is at its toughest, turn to rock and roll. The chorus's repetition of the phrase “there's always something magic, there's always something new” hammers home the idea that music can always offer something to help ease the listener's pain. In the end, the singer's voice asserts that when you need it most, rock and roll dreams come through.

This was always my favourite Meatloaf song.
With him passing, I know it might sound strange but it feels like someone I was related to has died.
I grew up with his music, seeing him in films and his songs soundtracked my life.
Him dying never crossed my mind, and now as I type this I feel silly but I had to get it off my chest.
I will forever be grateful for the music he made and the joy it brought to me.
