After the commercial success of Bat Out of Hell and Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell, and earning a Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for the song "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)", Meat Loaf nevertheless experienced some difficulty establishing a steady career within the United States. The key to this success was his popularity in Europe, especially in the United Kingdom and Ireland. He received the 1994 Brit Award in the United Kingdom for best-selling album and single. He appeared in the 1997 film Spice World and he ranked 23rd for the number of weeks spent on the UK charts in 2006. He ranks 96th on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock". Meat Loaf appeared in over 50 films and television shows, sometimes as himself or as characters resembling his stage persona. His film roles include Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) and Robert Paulsen in Fight Club (1999). His early stage work included dual roles in the original Broadway cast of The Rocky Horror Show. He also appeared in the musical Hair, both on and Off-Broadway.

Special Girl
Meat Loaf Lyrics

Let me tell you fortune life that once was mine
[Chorus]
She was a special girl and she meant the world to me and I gave her everything
When I found her, I'd been looking everywhere
And when I lost her, I was lost beyond despair
[Chorus]
Dreams are hard to touch, could it be I love her too much
[Chorus]
Bottom line is she was fine in every way
And it's not with hesitation that I say
[Chorus]
Dreams they come and go, but thoughts, like love, will always grow
Meat Loaf's song "Special Girl" is a romantic ballad that tells the story of a man who found the love of his life and lost her. The first few lines of the song suggest that the man believes that everyone deserves a little bit of happiness in their lives, and he reminisces about a time when he had that happiness. The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "special girl," which suggests that the woman in question was someone truly extraordinary to the singer. He gave her everything and saw her worth as priceless.
In the verses, the man describes the journey he went through to find the love of his life, suggesting that he had searched far and wide before meeting her. He also speaks of the profound sadness he felt when he lost her. The chorus then repeats again, with the lyrics becoming more emotional with each repetition. The singer suggests that perhaps he loved her too much, and that dreams can be hard to catch, but love will always grow.
