After the commercial success of Bat Out of Hell and Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell, and earning a Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for the song "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)", Meat Loaf nevertheless experienced some difficulty establishing a steady career within the United States. The key to this success was his popularity in Europe, especially in the United Kingdom and Ireland. He received the 1994 Brit Award in the United Kingdom for best-selling album and single. He appeared in the 1997 film Spice World and he ranked 23rd for the number of weeks spent on the UK charts in 2006. He ranks 96th on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock". Meat Loaf appeared in over 50 films and television shows, sometimes as himself or as characters resembling his stage persona. His film roles include Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) and Robert Paulsen in Fight Club (1999). His early stage work included dual roles in the original Broadway cast of The Rocky Horror Show. He also appeared in the musical Hair, both on and Off-Broadway.

You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth

Would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?
Will he offer me his mouth?
Yes
Will he offer me his teeth?
Will he offer me his jaws?
Yes
Will he offer me his hunger?
Yes
Again, will he offer me his hunger?
Yes!
And will he starve without me?
Yes!
And does he love me?
Yes
Yes
On a hot summer night
Would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?
Yes
I bet you to say that to all the boys.
It was a hot summer night and the beach was burning
There was fog crawling over the sand
And when I listened to your heart I hear the whole world turning
I see the shooting stars, falling through your trembling hands
While you were licking your lips and your lipstick shining
And I was dying just to ask for a taste
Oh we were lying together in a silver lining
By the light of the moon you know there's not another moment
Not another moment
Not another moment to waste
Oh will you hold me so close that my knees grow weak.
But my soul is flying high above the ground.
I'm trying to speak but no matter what I do
I just can't seem to make any sound.
And then you took the words right out of my mouth.
Oh it must have been while you were kissing me.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
Oh and I swear it's true, I was just about to say I love you.
(Love you)
And then you took the words right out of my mouth.
Oh it must have been while you were kissing me.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
Oh and I swear it's true, I was just about to say I love you.
Now my body is shaking like a wave on the water
And I guess that I'm beginning to grin.
Oh we're finally alone and we can do what we want
Oh the night is young and ain't no-one gonna know where you
No-one gonna know where you
No-one's gonna know where you've been.
You were licking your lips and your lipstick shining.
I was dying just to ask for a taste.
We were lying together in a silver lining
By the the light of the moon,
You know there's not another moment to waste
And then you took the words right out of my mouth.
Oh it must have been while you were kissing me.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
Oh and I swear it's true, I was just about to say I love you
(Love you)
And then you took the words right out of my mouth.
Oh it must have been while you were kissing me.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
Oh and I swear it's true, I was just about to say I love you.
(Love you)
And then you took the words right out of my mouth oh
(It must have been while you were kissing)
You took the words right out of my mouth oh
(It must have been while you were kissing)
You took the words right out of my mouth oh
(It must have been while you were kissing)
You took the words right out of my mouth oh
(It must have been while you were kissing)
You took the words right out of my mouth oh
(It must have been while you were kissing)
You took the words right out of my mouth oh
You took the words right out of my mouth oh
You took the words right out of my mouth
Whoa it must have been while you were kissing me
You took the words right out of my mouth
Oh it must have been while you were kissing me
You took the words right out of my mouth
Oh it must have been while you were kissing me
You took the words right out of my mouth
Oh it must have been while you were kissing me
The lyrics to Meat Loaf's song "You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth" tell the story of a passionate, romantic encounter between two people on a hot summer night at the beach. The central theme is a question the singer poses to his lover: "Would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?" This metaphorical question speaks to the idea of surrendering oneself completely to another, even if it may be dangerous or risky, just as a wolf with red roses can be both alluring and dangerous. Throughout the song, the singer and his lover exchange promises and declarations of love, culminating in the moment when she takes the words right out of his mouth as he is about to confess his love for her.
The song is full of vivid imagery and descriptive language, from the "fog crawling over the sand" to the "shooting stars falling through your trembling hands." It paints a picture of a sensual, exciting moment, heightened by the urgency of the fleeting nature of time and the need to seize the moment before it's gone.
Overall, "You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth" is a passionate and romantic song that captures the intensity of a moment of connection between two people.

My disabled mother, despite barely being able to speak a full sentence uninterrupted, can sing along to Meatloaf and Queen word for word. Singing along the way you'd expect a teenager from the 70's to do so (loud and enthusiastic).

As Meatloaf said, he was an actor who could sing.
He is permanently on my playlist, but every now and then, I have to see him in a live video to recall his passion on stage.
RIP Meatloaf, may your songs never die.
