Underneath the sun
Waiting for the cool of the night to come
I pick up a stone
Press it to my palm
Throw it out to sea and count wishes
The song "Beachy Head" by Mechanical Me is a haunting masterpiece that is rich in imagery and emotions. The opening lines "Lying very still, underneath the sun, waiting for the cool of the night to come" paint a picture of someone lying on a beach, basking in the warmth of the sun, but also waiting for the night-time coolness to arrive. This suggests a desire for change, for something different to happen, for a shift in the status quo.
The subsequent lines "I pick up a stone, press it to my palm, throw it out to sea and count wishes" add to the sense of longing and desire. The act of picking up a stone, pressing it to one's palm, and throwing it out to sea is a powerful symbol of letting go of the past and embracing the unknown. The act of counting wishes adds a sense of hope to the proceedings, suggesting that the singer believes that something good will come out of their desire for change.
Overall, "Beachy Head" is a beautiful song that captures the human desire for change and the hope that comes with it. The haunting melody, evocative lyrics, and powerful imagery make for a truly unforgettable listening experience.
