Vertigem
O canto da lavadeira resiste
Ao fogo que queima
Maria teima
Ao mesmo tempo que insincera, regenera a seiva
Na marmita arroz, feijão e ovo
Pra aliviar, alimenta o sonhos
O santo é manco mas acompanha a correria
Na evolução do dia a dia
Sinal fechou
Fechou os olhos pra bateria
(Bum) Confetes e serpentinas
Lá laiá laiá
Ser pedra é fácil quero ver ser a vidraça
Só quem sente na pele sabe os buracos da estrada (x2)
O profeta segue cego sem as pernas
E pede, e pega e prega
Deus lhe abençoe
No cotidiano
De baixo dos panos
Na porta do banco
Deus lhe abençoe
Atravessar
O compasso descalço
Sem olhar pro lado
Porque tem gente vindo
Atrás versar
Que o tempo me traga a fumaça
E dê graça a desgraça pra me sustentar
Lá laiá laiá
Ser pedra é fácil quero ver ser a vidraça
Só quem sente na pele sabe os buracos da estrada (x2)
A britadeira, o asfalto
O refresco, o salgado
The lyrics of Medulla's song "Confetes E Serpentinas" delve into the struggles and challenges of daily life. The opening lines refer to a steep hill being compared to a frying pan, symbolizing the difficulties and obstacles one faces. The feeling of vertigo represents the disorientation and uncertainty that can arise. The mention of the "canto da lavadeira," or the song of the washerwoman, highlights the resilience and resistance to the burning fire that life presents. Maria, likely a representation of the common woman, perseveres while also regenerating her strength.
The lyrics touch upon the simple sustenance that brings comfort, such as rice, beans, and eggs in a lunchbox. These everyday items provide nourishment for both the body and dreams. The mention of a lottery ticket could symbolize hope for a better future. The reference to a "saint with a limp" accompanying the hustle and bustle of life speaks to the belief and faith that people hold onto, even in difficult times.
The second verse introduces a prophet who continues on, despite being blind and legless. The plea for blessings from God signifies the hope for protection and guidance in the struggles of ordinary life. The lyrics express the hardships faced behind closed doors, both in the predictable routine of daily life and in the line at the bank. The repetition of "Deus lhe abençoe" reinforces the need for divine support.
The chorus emphasizes the challenges faced by those who experience life directly, highlighting the difficulties and pitfalls along the way. The metaphor of being a stone versus a window pane signifies that it is easier to be unaffected by life's challenges (the stone) than to feel the impact and vulnerable (the window pane).
The final verse mentions various aspects of life, from the sound of a jackhammer to the refreshment of a snack and the clinking of coins. The mention of a candlelit dinner with chicken in a bowl perhaps represents the simple joys amidst the struggles. The reference to a single-eyed monster signifies the monotonous routine of daily life.
Overall, "Confetes E Serpentinas" paints a vivid picture of the complexities and hardships of everyday life, while also alluding to the strength, resilience, and hope that help people persevere.
