Raised in the North Philadelphia section of the city with his sister and inspired by his mother and father; who died when he was five, Meek Mill began taking the rap game seriously at the age of 12 after losing a street battle to neighboring rappers. He says his desire to rap grew after watching his uncle Philly hip-hop pioneer Grandmaster Nell. While hanging out in his neighborhood, Meek met three guys and formed the group, โBloodHoundz,โ which consisted of Mel Love, Dat Nigga Leel and Young Pooh. The group lasted for fives years and Meek ventured on his own.
With a solo career in tow, Meek became one of Philadelphiaโs hottest underground rap artists on an independent label. In 2007, Meek debuted his Flamerz series, which stands for hottest songs and released his first mix tape, Flamerz 1, which featured the hit single, โIn My Bag.โ
In 2008, Meek debuted the highly anticipated Flamerz 2 โโHottest In Da City,โ which showcased more of his lyrical abilities with the singles, โSo Fly,โ โProlli,โ and โHottest In Da City.โ Upon release of Flamerz 2, it caught the attention of founder and President of 215Aphillyated Records, Charlie Mack. Mack was immediately impressed with Meek that he signed him to his management company. During the same year, he met the founder and owner of Grand Hustle, TI. TI was impressed with his lyrical ability that he offered him an opportunity to travel to Los Angeles to meet with him along with the Warner Brothers Records, within one week both record companies offered him a deal. Meek was overwhelmed by the offers; however, he felt collaborating with TI was an opportunity of a lifetime and chose his label. An ecstatic Meek was on top of the world; a record deal and the chance to work with one of hip hopโs greatest rappers and then a set back occurred. He was arrested, charged with a crime and order to serve seven months in jail.
Meek pre-released three singles from his third mix tape Flamerz 2.5 โ โThe Previewโ in August of 2009, which featured the chart topping hits, โMake โEm Say,โ โImma Da Ish,โ featuring Ms. Jade and โStarting Something,โ in honor Michael Jackson. Within the first two weeks of its release, Clear Channel added it to their play list, which is an anomaly in the music business. In June of 2009, Meek began immediately working on his freshman album โ Flamerz 3, โHottest In America โ Gangster Grill Edition,โ hosted by DJ Drama and featuring the songs: โBaby Girl,โ โHottest In America,โ and โIโm Killinem.โ The highly anticipated cd is set to be released on January 19, 2010. Despite his stint in jail, Meekโs fans remained loyal, he currently boasts of 13 million hits on My Space and 20 million viewers on You Tube. Meek Mill has recently just signed to Rick Ross's Maybach Music Group.
In the future, Meek plans to establish the Meek Mill Foundation, which will mentor young males between the ages of 12-24 on the importance of โEducation over Incarceration.โ He gives a shoutout to the next artist coming up named shizz.. He also plans to collaborate with United Community Action Network and the Lifers of Graterford Prison to address the violence plaguing our cities. 2015 - BEEF WITH DRAKE
In July 2015 Meek attempted to air out Drake for "not writing his own raps" via popular social media site Twitter. These tweets resulted in a huge reaction from the hip hop community, however, the stunt went awry when Drake (Aubrey Graham) decided to respond. Drake released the diss track "Charged Up" during an Apple Music stream and an immediate response from Meek was demanded. Funkmaster Flex announced he would debut Meek's response live on Hot97. However, the track never came. After four days there was still no sign of a response from Meek, prompting Drake to release a second diss track "Back To Back." The response to this was huge and a harsh blow to Meek's career. Two days later Meek finally released "Wanna Know." This track received largely negative reviews and it was clear to most that Drake had won the beef. On August 2nd at the annual OVOfest, Drake truly roasted Meek Mill; performing "Back To Back" in front of various memes poking fun at Meek to a raucous Toronto crowd. Many fans believed this to be the nail in the coffin spelling the end for Meek's career.

Yeah, we the realest niggas in this shit
Pulling live out of Philly
Young nigga love popping bad bitches and wheelies
And I'm talking all this money, now these niggas can't feel me
Money long, team strong so these niggas can't kill me, ah
I get a rush from this lifestyle, solid gold presidential with the ice dial
'Cause every single nigga with me gon' be iced out
Block party, living life wild
I go to court for probation and looking like trial
The DA told me she want a nigga but right now
I'm living better than ever, I'm thinkin' like, "How?"
Is it the money? Is it the cars?
Is it the way a nigga living that took me this far?
But still they want me with the sins and give me them bars
They lock a nigga in the dark I still look like a star
I shine, I grind harder, I'm working my mind smarter
I take care of my grandmama, mama, my ma's daughter
They telling me I ain't shit, I made it for my father
I just hope you pray for me, matter fact sing for me
Lil Snupe
They killed my lil' nigga Snupe, my lil' nigga was the truth
And all he wanted was a coupe, all he wanted was a coupe
So what's a nigga 'sposed to do?
Tell 'em put the guns down or tell lil' nigga shoot?
'Cause they'll do the same to me, do the same shit to you
And all these niggas in my roof, that's why I got a bulletproof
As I'm rolling through my city, nigga, all I see is murder
Ain't nobody seen it but shit everybody heard it
And ain't nobody hiring so everybody serving
And all this gunfire and shit everybody murkin, better get a strap
Young niggas selling 'caine just to get it back
And they busting out them racks till they sitting back
And if a nigga hit my homie, we gon' hit him back
And if you send him over here, know we gon' send him back
My flow iller, I came up from dope dealing
I been sayin' I'd make it, they telling me no
Nigga these voices all in my head just telling me go get it
I came up on four wheelers
Bananas and gorillas through the jungle
Where killers rumble and everyone perishing
Realest nigga in it no comparison
And they got the nerve to tell me I'm arrogant
But what the fuck, I'm young black, I made it in America
So I'ma ball harder than the ma'fucking Carter's
Beyoncรฉ and Shawn, arm blue'er than their daughter
Maneuver through the water like a shark that's on a dolphin
Nigga darker, in a coffin devils on him, get em off him
I can look at your homies and tell you foul, dawg
Leaning with your left but you stand in southpaw
Be the same niggas that'll take you out, dawg
Leaving niggas hungry but you eating Mr. Chows, dawg
Where the love at? Where the love at?
I'll give up all this money to get lil' cuz back
Before my nigga go starving like where the grub at
Give up the fame, start over and get my buzz back
Do it again, murder his killer him and his friend
Put the arena, step on the stage, kill him again
Look at the stands the fans coming filling them in
To give my nigga a chance, see him winning again
Snupe
They killed my lil' nigga Snupe, my lil' nigga was the truth
And all he wanted was a coupe, all he wanted was a coupe
So what's a nigga 'sposed to do?
Tell 'em put the guns down or tell lil' nigga shoot?
'Cause they'll do the same to me, do the same shit to you
And all these niggas in my roof, that's why I got a bulletproof
The song "Lil Snupe" by Meek Mill is a tribute to the late rapper Addarren Ross, also known as Lil Snupe, who was signed to Meek Mill's Dream Chasers record label. The song reminisces about their friendship and the struggles of growing up in a violent neighborhood. It also acknowledges the premature death of Lil Snupe and the need to put an end to the cycle of violence in their community.
The chorus repeats the phrase, "They killed my lil' nigga Snupe, my lil' nigga was the truth," emphasizing the pain and grief that Meek Mill experienced after losing his friend. He questions what can be done to stop the violence, asking whether it is better to tell people to put their guns down or to tell them to shoot. The verse also touches on the issues of poverty and drug dealing, as well as the pressure of being successful and balancing fame with personal life.
Overall, "Lil Snupe" is a powerful and emotional tribute to a young rapper who was taken too soon. It also serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by those living in violent communities and the need for change.

When Snupe died, I was high, shit, I ain't get to feel it
And I can't lie, I been on my mind and I ain't heard this killing
Too many guys been switching sides, it's only getting realer
Look in my eyes, when you see fire, turn me to a villain (Dougie on the beat)
All the money deals made me stress more
Made it out the hood, they think I'm blessed more
Seen my brother's true colors, ain't have a check for 'em
And when it come to my mother, don't even check on
Money and violence, I'm like, "Fuck it, we wyling"
Whether my dawg was right or wrong, shit, I'm like, "Fuck we, we sliding"
Sometimes I need to be alone or go to an island and clear my mind up
And you can't cry 'bout that street shit once you sign up
My homie called me 'bout some cash, it fucked my mind up
Niggas was biting down my back, it fucked my spine up
You ain't even tell me that them niggas said they tryna rob us
You tryna slime us
Trust getting lower as the money go up
Heart getting colder, I've been very sober
When they say the opps died, we ain't tripping, we like, "So what?"
We ain't here to keep your name alive 'cause we know that it's over
It's over
It's over (ha-ha)
It's over
They thought it was over, we got low in the city
I walk in, unload, and I might blow like 350
Tell my youngin go, and he will spin 'til he dizzy
Feeling lucky to be my bro' before my enemies get me
And I just wanna know his life from the beginning
Thought I was losing, they was switching sides
They tried to win and we winning (yeah), yeah
Snakes in the grass, no hesitation, run 'em over
So I ain't even notice when I ran over a cobra
You was supposed to be my brother, in the trenches we was soldiers
And problems breaking down, but now my Phantom got a chauffeur
And I done bulletproofed the Rover
I can't trust nobody, I can't even invite nobody over
Perc'ies in my body, I feel less heavy when I'm sober
I did this for my family, I hope this money bring us closer
Hope the money bring us closer
Whole lot of stuff been on my shoulders
Niggas thought that it was over
I've been doing my thing all quarantine, tryna clean my soul up
Niggas asking when I'm dropping shit, I was tryna get some closure
I was tryna see who with me in my darkest deepest moments
See my feelings, I won't want it
They thought it was over, we got low in the city
I walk in, unload, and I might blow like 350
Tell my youngin go, and he will spin 'til he dizzy
Feeling lucky to be my bro' before my enemies get me
And I just wanna know his life from the beginning
Thought I was losing, they was switching sides
They tried to win and we winning (yeah)
