A collaborator at heart, Cornett's live performances can take on an entirely new feel, all depending on who might be in the room participating. Past manifestations of the live show have ranged from a simple guitar & vocal stage setup to a lively clapping gospel choir with backing musicians.
Cornett continues this collaborative effort with Meestro's debut EP, "B Sides from B Street", recorded at his home in Bakersfield, CA. Supporting musicians include: Jeff Williams (guitar), Ryan Fergon (bass), Brian Boozer (drums, percussion), Grace Monrian (vocals), & Cassie Pedersen (vocals). All tracks were written, recorded, and mostly performed by Cornett, as he took up guitar, vocal, salt shaker, tambourine, glockenspiel, melodica, organ, bass & drum duties for this release.
Fortunately, he maintained most of his sanity by not attempting to play them all simultaneously.
Run Away
Meestro Lyrics

Her eyes batted .400, they pierced the competition
What's a man to do in this situation?
So many choices, only one decision
Run, run, run, run, run away
Let them fight for the bill I gotta pay
One says "go on", the other says "stay"
When your hand is caught in the cookie jar,
You can try to run, you won't get very far
You're like a modern Mercury in a pool of tar
Reaching for the keys to your convertible car
Run, run, run, run, run away
Let them fight for the bill I gotta pay
One says "go on", the other says "stay"
But it sounds much safer to run away
In Meestro's song "Run Away," the lyrics describe a conversation that almost ends in disaster. The woman's gaze is powerful, and the male protagonist is intimidated by her. He is faced with the challenge of making a decision, but he is unsure of what to do. He decides to run away and avoid the potential conflict altogether.
The chorus repeats the phrase "run away," emphasizing the theme of escaping from the situation. The singer doesn't want to deal with the consequences of his actions, so he chooses to flee. "Let them fight for the bill, I gotta pay" implies that he wants to avoid the responsibility of dealing with the situation by running away from it.
The bridge of the song refers to being caught in a situation that you cannot escape from. The metaphor of a hand caught in a cookie jar is used to describe a sense of guilt and the desire to escape from it. The reference to Mercury being trapped in tar emphasizes the feeling of being stuck and unable to escape.
Overall, the song is about the difficulty of making decisions and the fear of facing the consequences of those decisions. Running away may seem like the easier option, but it doesn't solve the problem.
