Inspired by artists like Adele and Amy Winehouse and classic soul acts like Sam Cooke and Ray Charles, her star rose throughout 2014 as she continued releasing singles, toured, and prepared her debut EP, MEGMAC, which was released in June 2015. The EP enjoyed plenty of success in Australia, earning her an ARIA Music Award nomination and spawning the hit single "Never Be."
Her full-length debut, Low Blows, arrived in the summer of 2017 and was preceded by a single of the same name.
In October 2018, Mac released the single "Give Me My Name Back" which she told Billboard "is a song for those who have suffered emotional and physical abuse; it's for the women who are standing up and speaking out, those discriminated against in the LGBTQI community, the indigenous people of Australia and the children abused by the church. For everyone who has lost an important part of themselves and need to reclaim their identity, dignity and self-worth in order to move forward with their lives.

Make me believe that you knew better?
I'm gonna teach you how to let go
Like no one has ever ever said no
Like no one has ever ever said no
Something tells me that you've never been alone
Yeah I wonder what you think about when everybody's gone
I've been trying to get along
But I'm better when you're gone and
Oh ohh ahhh
I'm better when you're gone
Oh ohh ahhh
I'm better when you're gone
Something tells me that you've never fully grown up
Oh ohh ahh
'Cause I'm better when you're gone
Now you've got them wrapped around your finger
Then I'd given you all that I could give ya
No they couldn't teach you how to let go
Oh no one has ever, ever said no
Something tells me that you've never been alone
Yeah I wonder what you think about when everybody's gone
Something tells me that you won't pick up the phone
I've been trying to get along
But I'm better when you're gone and
Oh ohh ahhh
I'm better when you're gone
Oh ohh ahhh
I'm better when you're gone
Something tells me that you've never fully grown up
Oh ohh ahh
'Cause I'm better when you're gone
Been around
Now I'm back
And nothing's changed
This is where
I used to stand
Every day
Just soaking up the shit you tell me
Just soaking up the shit you tell me
Something tells me that you've never been alone
Yeah I wonder what you think about when everybody's gone
Something tells me that you won't pick up the phone
I've been trying to get along
But I'm better when you're gone and
Oh ohh ahhh
I'm better when you're gone
Oh ohh ahhh
I'm better when you're gone
Something tells me that you've never fully grown up
Oh ohh ahh
'Cause I'm better when you're gone
Oh ohh ahh
'Cause I'm better when you're gone
Oh ohh ahh
'Cause I'm better when you're gone
The lyrics to Meg Mac's song "Something Tells Me" are about letting go of a toxic relationship. The singer talks about how the other person had made her believe that they knew better, but now she wants to teach them how to let go. She believes that the other person has never fully grown up, or been alone, and wonders what they think about when everyone is gone. The singer has tried to get along with this person, but ultimately realizes that she is better off without them.
The first verse talks about how the other person had been able to convince the singer that they knew better and how they had taken advantage of her. The singer wants to teach them how to let go, like no one has ever said no before. The chorus talks about how the singer is better off without this person and how something tells her that they have never fully grown up or been alone. The singer wonders what they think about when everyone is gone, but realizes that she is better off without them.
In the second verse, the singer talks about how the other person had everyone wrapped around their finger, but the singer had given them all she could give. Despite others trying to teach this person how to let go, no one had ever said no to them before. The bridge talks about how the singer used to stand in a certain spot every day, listening to the other person's lies. However, now that the singer has been around and realized what was happening, she is better off without them.

Her voice is angelic. Honestly, it warms my heart to see actual talented people making actual art, especially in this age of Taylor Swifts and wanna be vocalists who build their whole career off an image, but no talent.
