Meg Myers is an American vocalist and songwriter produced by Doctor Rosen Rosen. Originally from Tennessee's Smoky Mountains, she now lives in Los Angeles. She is a former Jehovah's Witness.
Her debut EP, Daughter in the Choir, is available on iTunes and for free download from her website. Her song "Adelaide," a ballad about domestic abuse, was featured on Last Call with Carson Daly and "Curbstomp" which was synched in an episode of CSI:NY is also included on the compilation album "New Music Seminar - Artist On the Verge 2012, Vol. 1". In 2012 she played a residency at The Bootleg in Los Angeles and two shows at The Viper Room as well as a sold out show with JMSN at The Troubadour. Entertainment Weekly called her "everything we want in a singer-angry, damaged, and supremely talented." While a review in music industry trade hitsdailydouble.com described her as "still a little raw around the edges, but if she can manage to harness that power, Meg Myers has the kind of fierce presence that evokes the likes of femme fatales such as Fiona Apple, Patti Smith, Cat Power, Alanis Morrissette and Sinead O'Connor, and that's some pretty impressive company."

Funeral
Meg Myers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I was broken, I was barely alive
(Ah, alive)
My heart was like a ghost town at sundown
It was a beautiful disguise
A beautiful lie
I'll hit you when you're down on one knee
It's beautiful
Baby, my love's like a funeral
You came in like a god from above
And give me your soul, I wanna soak it up
If only you knew
Baby, my love's like a funeral
Looking down the barrel of a warm gun
Throw me, I end up higher
I wanna feel my higher power
Let me wear your halo on a Sunday
I'll be on my best behaviour
I'll be a good, good girl
I'll hit you when you're down on one knee
I'll give you my heart when I'm six foot deep
It's beautiful
Baby, my love's like a funeral
You came in like a god from above
And give me your soul, I wanna soak it up
If only you knew
Baby, my love's like a funeral
And baby my love's like a funeral
And if I give you up, would it bring me down?
Into the blue where no light is found
I can see you in the distance but you're fading away
Wait a minute, wait a minute, start it over again
I'll hit you when you're down on one knee
I'll give you my heart when I'm six foot deep
It's beautiful
Baby, my love's like a funeral
You came in like a god from above
And give me your soul, I wanna soak it up
If only you knew
Baby, my love's like a funeral
I'll be a good, good girl
I'll be a good, good girl (and baby, my love's like a funeral)
I'll be a good, good girl
I'll be a good, good girl (and baby, my love's like a funeral)
The lyrics to Meg Myers's song Funeral seem to speak of a love that is all-consuming and destructive. The opening lines of the song describe the singer as being in the shadows when they met their lover, as if hiding from the world. They were broken and barely alive and their heart was like a ghost town at sundown, a beautiful disguise or a lie. The idea of being in the shadows and barely alive suggests that the singer was quite vulnerable when they met their lover. Their heart being like a ghost town at sundown implies a sense of emptiness or abandonment. The beautiful disguise or lie mentioned in the song suggests that the singer is putting on a façade or hiding their true self from the world.
The chorus of the song speaks of a love that is like a funeral, all-consuming and intense. The singer says that they will hit their lover when they are down on one knee, suggesting a desire to exert power over them. They will give them their heart when they are six-foot-deep, suggesting a willingness to sacrifice everything for them. The love is described as beautiful, but the imagery of a funeral suggests death and loss, not something that is typically associated with beauty. The singer acknowledges that their love is like a funeral, all-consuming and intense, and that their lover came in like a god from above, giving them their soul, which they want to soak up.
The rest of the song is filled with imagery of self-destruction and wanting to feel a higher power. The singer mentions looking down the barrel of a warm gun and wanting to feel their higher power. They also talk about wearing their lover's halo on a Sunday and being on their best behavior, suggesting a desire to be better for their lover. The repeated chorus suggests that the singer's love is like a funeral and that it is all-consuming and intense.

Sparky Gamezz that’s a nice tribute to her.
I’m a guy in my 40’s and have a wide range of music I like and play. I discovered her in 2016. I heard Lemon Eyes on the radio and ran home to look her up. Love everything she does.
I try to play some of her stuff. I love the rock and roll edge.
My brother is in the music business but took a break because he’s also a doctor but he moved recently to La to continue to practice medicine but wants to get back into performing. - it’s amazing how much goes into writing a song. Most music now on the radio is a group of people writing songs. The amazing part is Meg writes her own music and is able to perform it so raw when she’s live.
I totally agree that she does not get enough play time and is virtually unknown. Hopefully she’ll get a big hit that ends up in a movie soundtrack or tv show.
My brother had 1 song appear in 1 episode of “skins” and the royalty checks were decent.
Meg is such a talent and that has only grown... it feels like no one appreciates her at least not in my circle of friends or songs I share on my FB.
I did get my my guitar teacher to listen to Desire and he can play it like the album version. That’s not too difficult a piece to learn & I’d like to learn to play it.

I love the driving energy in this song and the range of her voice.
The reggae tone beat adds to it feeling sexy.
I like all her girly battle cries. Whoooo hooooo.
And the little nod to the Beatles (looking down the barrel of a warm guuuunnn)
I can’t believe how into this woman’s music I have become! She’s awesome in every way.

This is why I love her to death. She always has such grasp on the emotions in the song and the lyrics are always so beautiful. Her voice is so addictive.
