Dave Mustaine was an early member of the band Metallica, and helped pen tracks that wound up on their first two albums. In 1983, Mustaine was let go from the group by Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield due to personal conflicts and substance abuse. He would be replaced by Kirk Hammett, guitarist for the Bay Area thrash band Exodus, who remains with the band to this day. Dave felt slighted and vowed to make his own band, which would be even faster and heavier than Metallica. Mustaine picked the name "Megadeth" from a pamphlet by California senator Alan Cranston that read: "The arsenal of megadeath can't be rid no matter what the peace treaties come to."
In 1985, Megadeth released their debut album, Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!, on the independent record label Combat Records, to moderate success. It caught the attention of bigger labels, which led to Megadeth signing with Capitol Records. Their first major-label album, Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?, was released in 1986 and was a major hit with the underground metal scene. Band members' substance abuse issues and personal disputes had brought Megadeth negative publicity during the late 1980s. Nonetheless, the band went on to release a number of platinum-selling albums, including So Far, So Good... So What! (1988), Rust in Peace (1990), and Countdown to Extinction (1992). These albums, along with worldwide tours, brought them public recognition.
Megadeth has had numerous guitarists, drummers and bassists throughout its 39-year career, with Mustaine being the only remaining original member of the group. The band temporarily disbanded in 2002 when Mustaine suffered an arm injury and re-established in 2004 without longtime bassist David Ellefson, who had taken legal action against him. Ellefson settled out of court and rejoined the band in 2010, but was fired in 2021 amid allegations of sexual misconduct. Megadeth's current lineup includes Mustaine, bassist James LoMenzo, guitarist Kiko Loureiro and drummer Dirk Verbeuren.
Megadeth earned platinum certifications in the United States for six of its sixteen studio albums, and has received twelve Grammy nominations. Megadeth won its first Grammy Award in 2017 for the song "Dystopia" in the Best Metal Performance category. The band's mascot, Vic Rattlehead, regularly appears on album artwork and live shows. Megadeth has hosted its own music festival, Gigantour, several times since July 2005, and held its first MegaCruise in October 2019.

Foreclosure of a Dream
Megadeth Lyrics

A plan of dignity and balance for all
Political breakthrough, euphoria's high
More borrowed money, more borrowed time
Backed in a corner, caught up in the race
Means to an end ended in disgrace
Perspective is lost in the spirit of the chase
Those visions never seen
Until all is lost
Personal holocaust
Foreclosure of a dream
Barren land that once filled a need
Are worthless now, dead without a deed
Slipping away from an iron grip
Nature's scales are forced to tip
The heartland cries, loss of all pride
To leave ain't believing, so try and be tried
Insufficient funds, insanity and suicide
Foreclosure of a dream
Those visions never seen
Until all is lost
Personal holocaust
Foreclosure of a dream
Now with new hope some will be proud
This is no hoax, no one pushed out
Receive a reprieve and be a pioneer
Break new ground of a new frontier
New ideas will surely get by
No deed or dividend, some may ask, "why?"
You'll find the solution, the answer's in the sky
Rise so high, yet so far to fall
A plan of dignity and balance for all
Political breakthrough, euphoria's high
More borrowed money, more borrowed time
Foreclosure of a dream
Those visions never seen
Until all is lost
Personal holocaust
Foreclosure of a dream
Foreclosure of a dream
Those visions never seen
Until all is lost

Foreclosure of a dream

The lyrics of the Megadeth's song "Foreclosure of a Dream" have a profound meaning that speaks about the foreclosure of the American Dream. This is the dream that is deeply rooted in the American society and has defined the country since its founding. The song portrays the fact that the American Dream is becoming more of a myth than a reality because people are working more and achieving less. The political landscape has become unstable, and this has led to more borrowing rather than producing sustainable growth.
The song paints a picture of a society that has been caught up in the chase of material wealth and political power, consequently losing their perspective on what truly matters in life. The lyricist notes that the heartland is crying because they have lost all their pride due to the foreclosure of their dreams. Foreclosure of a dream is symbolic of the fact that people are losing faith in the government and their ability to fulfill their promise to provide opportunities for people to achieve their dreams.
In conclusion, the song's overall message is about the American Dream's foreclosure, which has become evident due to the failing economy and unstable political landscape. The song is a warning to people that they are losing sight of what is important and that they need to refocus their energy on building a society that is fair and equitable.

History doesn’t stop for the present - we are still affected by historical events that happened 200+ years ago. The beat goes on and we feel the reverberations of it. It probably only seems more relevant now because the older you get the more you notice how repetitive history is and how it permeates into the current culture... for example, how white supremacy movements and terrorism has always been boiling under the surface in the United States after the Emancipation of Black Slaves, then Jim Crow Laws and segregation... sorry. But hey, at least the more aware you are the more you can change your own behaviours to try to not contribute to mass consumption, hate propaganda and extremism. Same goes with the Industrial Age still affecting how we presenting demand easier accessibility to fast fashion, fast housing and plastics due to the ability to make things cheaply - regardless over the long term impacts or whether it is unethical... it all is linked.
Look at how in the 1950’s until now how often people would purchase new furniture, like couches, to fit into the current trends when before then it was more common for the average person to pass down objects or purchase objects of a higher quality. Since the 1980’s, especially, you see how as the decades go on - the more cheaply things are made. That is why, I think - Midcentury Modern furniture is having a resurgence because it was the last of the common person’s quality furniture pieces. Much of it was still being made with actual wood unlike now where everything is made with particleboard or plastic. This might seem a bit off to mention but, when you consider that it is a minor reflection of how people have accelerated need to keep up with the Kardashians, or Jenners people are more inclined to spend money they don’t have and buying objects that won’t serve them years down the road because they are chasing the Dream constructed for them by consumption and greed - a greed that is encouraged. They don’t make things to last because they want return customers - hence why electronics like phones aren’t made with the intention of lasting.. and made by child labour, or indentured labour.
When you look at the reasons why society shifts their perceptions on things, like trends, or trying to mirror the affluent - you have foreclosure of dreams. Capitalism - much like Socialism, isn’t good when at extremes. It was Andy Warhol who discussed why consumption was steadily heading in this direction, commenting about how anyone could obtain things like Coke Cola which people of a certain wealth also could enjoy - and that where we still are. Why we have McMansions that were poorly built, essentially match stick houses - and sold for huge prices to people who couldn’t afford it and thought they’d be able to sell their homes for more than they bought it - then you see a huge fall in that market. These homes, The can of pop you have in the fridge and the iPhone I am typing on are all contributing to the overwhelming notion that things aren’t changing nor have changed. It is just at, again, a seemingly accelerated rate.
I link this to governments using the working class as pons for their ultimate gains - such as allowing banks to loan to people clearly not able to afford loans, using sanctions on goods like grains for their alternative motivations... it sucks man.
And that is my unwarranted rant on a 2 year old comment you likely forgot you made.

Holocausto
@The8tons
Dave's voice is really interesting. He can hit high notes and can have a low growl. But it seems like it can fit all together. Its awesome.
@neilpatrickhairless
He always sounded like Keith Morris if that guy could sing to me
@clonedsheep6080
Dave's singing isn't anything to write home about, he's really monotone live, which is more telling than a studio recording. Don't take this the wrong way, he's a great musician, but Dave's voice is about the snarl, not so much about his range.
@saredodevil
@@clonedsheep6080 I've always wondered, what is Dave Mustaine's voice type and rank? it would have been great to hear Dave do black metal shrieks
