Something of a national hero in Wales, his psych-folk influence can be heard in contemporary Welsh groups such as Super Furry Animals and Gorky's Zygotic Mynci. Stevens was one of the first artist to record for Wales' first independent record company, the Sain label.
Stevens sang mostly in his native language. His one English-language album is 1970's Outlander. Meic composes most of the lyrics and music on his albums. He is a gifted guitarist, and can perform as a soloist as well as with his band. Although he has fallen short of international fame, it was not musical talent that let him down but personal circumstances. He was signed to Warner Brothers, but does not seem to have done much recording for WB. Today he is respected among Welsh musicians and has several Welsh CDs available from the Sain label in Caernarfon. His early Welsh songs, such as Tryweryn (a Welsh village flooded to provide water for Liverpool) and Merch o'r Ffatri Wlan ("Girl from the wool factory"), are considered classics.
Stevens can still sometimes be found occasionally singing in certain pubs/hotels in Aberystwyth until the late hours. He can also be seen performing regularly throughout Wales and England at major festivals, eisteddfodau, pubs, theatres etc. He performs periodically in France, mainly Brittany where he is very popular.

La la, la la la la la, la la la la la la la
O, mi wena'r haul yn y pwll glo
Beth am botel o gwrw?
O, mae gennai bres, ond mae'r mwg a tes
Yn troi pob un yn feddw
Mor unig ar y llinyn tyn
Yn troedio'r eangderau
O, dim ond fi a'r brawd Houdini'n
Cerdded lan i'r nefoedd
La la, la la la la la, la la la la la la la (X2)
O, 'roedd y nos mor ddu ac mae brenin y dall
Yn crawcian yn y bore
O, y dewin dwl ar y teleffon
Yn ceisio neud ei orau
A minau'n methu gweld tu fewn
Neu mas o'r byd a'i chwerthin
O, dim ond fi a'r brawd Houdini'n
Cerdded lan i'r nefoedd
La la, la la la la la, la la la la la la la

Each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment.
Hebrews 9:27 NLT
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
Romans 5:8 NLT
For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16 NLT
Peter replied, Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.
Galatians 6:7 NLT
If we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins.
Hebrews 10:26 NLT
You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way.
But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.
Matthew 7:13-14 NLT
God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
James 1:12 NLT
No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.
1 Corinthians 2:9 NLT
And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.
Matthew 24:14 NLT
@Thremtie
had to sing this for my schools Eisteddfod a few years ago and just remembered this song. If anyone sees this from Bryntawe, hope you're doing well. Sam Day.

My american mate Natalie came over last year from florida, and she brought me some music from her husband mark, one of the cd`s was Meic Stevans. This song is great, reminds me of when i was a kid cos my sister brought it back from llangranog yonks ago. It had a yellow lable. Bloody Brill.

I don't speak a word of Welsh, but I really like this song! I recorded an English/Welsh version with my band, Aldous Lamp, at Bard College in upstate New York. You can find our rendition here on YouTube pretty easily. I learned the first verse in Welsh by listening to it repeatedly and attempting to imitate how it sounded phonetically, without having read the Welsh lyrics (which, now having seen them, probably wouldn't have helped me). It's a fun, lighthearted song, in Welsh or English!
